The Miami Police Department arrested 23-year-old JORDAN JOHN DUBERRY (pictured).

DUBERRY was charged with fleeing and eluding as well as animal cruelty because while he was being chased by cops, he kept “two baby kittens” unsecured in his Infiniti G37.

Police said DUBERRY sped away from officers and ran numerous stop signs. According to the report, eventually DUBERRY turned into a dead-end parking lot and officers were able to take him into custody.

An officer wrote in his report that initially the kittens “appeared to be lifeless” but thankfully they were alive. The officer went on to report that “Although a cage was present, the kittens were not placed inside it and were instead observed moving freely within the vehicle, specifically on the floorboard of the front passenger side.”

The report stated that the furvictims were “not secured by any means, leaving them extremely vulnerable” as DUBERRY sped throughout the pursuit. The officer further wrote: “Due to their young age and small size, any sudden braking, abrupt turns, or a traffic collision could have caused the kittens to be crushed, thrown, or otherwise severely injured,” constituting a “disregard for their safety and could reasonably be considered animal cruelty.”

At the time of writing, online records show that DUBERRY is being held in the Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Department.

As for the Voiceless Victims, they are now in the custody of DUBERRY’s girlfriend.

On April 3, 2025, a female dog who was extremely emaciated and severely abused was found in the 4500 block of Northwest 36th Street in Lauderdale Lakes. The concerned citizen who found the dog called for help and an officer with Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Division picked her up and took her to Big Dog Ranch Rescue.

The rescue is now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the monster(s) responsible for the dog’s neglect.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue shared pictures of the furvictim, a black Giant Schnauzer whom they refer to as Bibi.

BiBi was severely emaciated to the extent that she could not even stand or walk without help. The sweet soul was suffering from multiple injuries, including broken ribs, damage to her spine and hips.

In the heartbreaking video published on their Facebook page, Big Dog Ranch Rescue said: “This was no accident. This was animal cruelty”.

In an update posted on April 10, 2025, the rescue said: “BiBi has just had her first haircut, and what we uncovered beneath her fur is even more heartbreaking. Her emaciated body is now fully visible, with her bones jutting out, a painful reminder of the neglect her 1 year old self has been through. If we hadn’t gotten to BiBi when we did… she likely wouldn’t have made it through the night. That’s how close she was to the edge. It’s a thought that’s hard to shake. This miracle girl has been through the unthinkable—and now we need to make sure she never feels that kind of pain again. 🤍”

The rescue is working with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to find the monster(s) responsible.

Anyone with information related to this case is urged to come forward and speak up. Please, contact Big Dog Ranch Rescue at (561) - 791 - 6465 or Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) - 493 - 8477. Thank you!

The Levy County Sheriff’s Office announced the conviction of 39-year-old PEDRO CARLOS PEREZ JR (pictured).

It all started back in March 2024, when Levy County Animal Services were contacted by a concerned citizen who reported that PEREZ was not caring for his dogs at his Morriston home.

According to the sheriff’s office, although Animal Services made multiple attempts and issued notices to PEREZ ordering him to comply with statutory requirements to care for the dogs, he “ignored all orders and the condition of the dogs deteriorated.”

On June 5, 2024, Ag Detective Gary Garboski responded to PEREZ’s home to assist Animal Services following a report of animal neglect.

Ten (10) dogs were removed from PEREZ’s home and criminal charges were finally filed against him.

All of the furvictims were taken to the Levy County Animal Services facility where they received the veterinary treatment they needed and deserved.

Ag Detective Garboski wrote in his report: “The def was given several warnings and ample time to correct the living conditions for these animals and refused causing their condition to deteriorate to unhealthy, malnourished condition over time.”

The report went on to say: “…the veterinarians' assessment accompanied by time lapse between warnings and living conditions not improving. With no compliance and overall inhumane treatment of these animals the def is charged with animal neglect. No reasonable and prudent person would consider this a sanitary healthy environment for any animal.”

On March 25, 2025, a Levy County Jury found PEREZ guilty on all ten (10) counts of animal neglect and upon issuance of the verdict PEREZ was immediately remanded into the custody of the Levy County Detention Facility.

Three days later, Levy County Judge Luis Enrique Bustamante sentenced PEREZ to ONLY 180 days in the Levy County Detention Facility followed by one year of probation and restitution of $32,000 to Levy County Animal Services.

All of the Voiceless Victims were ultimately re-homed.

A spokesperson for the Levy County Sheriff’s Office tells me that this was not a dogfighting case and no animals were found deceased. The sheriff’s office kindly provided Voice For Us with the pictures in the gallery.
