The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrested 21-YEAR-OLD JAQUAVIAN LEVONTA DEVOL (pictured).
According to the affidavit obtained by Voice For Us, on April 28, 2025, a deputy responded to a home on 2524 Stonegate Drive in Wellington to assist with the execution of a search warrant.
The deputy reported that upon searching the home, he discovered a deceased snake in a terrarium and in the garage confined in cage was a small male gray Pitbull. The cage was covered with dried feces and there was no food or water for the dog.
The deputy saw some dog food bags which were old and empty. According to the deputy, the Pitbull was “very thin” with his spine, ribs, and hips showing.
It was determined that the dog and the snake were DEVOL's. He told the deputy that when he was given the snake, the animal was already dead and that “he was waiting for the snake to decompose so he could have the skeleton.”
Palm Beach County Animal Control responded to the scene and noticed that there was no food or water for the snake inside the terrarium.
DEVIL, oops, excuse me, DEVOL was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. At the time of writing, records show he is still in custody.
On April 30, 2025, DEVOL was arraigned on two felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty for the cruel and unnecessary pain and suffering inflicted on the snake’s death and the Pitbull, one felony count of animal cruelty for depriving the Pitbull of necessary sustenance and shelter, and one felony count of confinement of animals for confining the Pitbull in a cage without adequate food and water.
DEVOL pled not guilty to all charges. He is expected back at Palm Beach Circuit Court on May 28, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
