Investigation underway after Doberman Pinscher was found deceased, possibly dragged

- Mississippi, USA -

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department is requesting public assistance after a dog was found deceased in Vancleave.

On October 31, 2026, deputies were dispatched to an area near the intersection of Paige Bayou Road and Kenneth Cole Road after being alerted to the incident. Upon arrival, they found a deceased dog who appeared to be a black-and-brown female Doberman Pinscher.

Evidence at the scene suggested that, before being found at that location, the dog had been dragged along the road behind a vehicle using an orange ratchet strap and a black-and-red ratchet strap.

When the dog was discovered, the orange ratchet strap was still around her neck, while the black-and-red strap remained around her body.

The incident is being investigated as a possible animal cruelty case, and investigators are working to determine whether a criminal offense occurred.

To assist with the investigation, the Sheriff's Department is asking the community to come forward with any information that could help identify the dog's guardian or establish who was responsible for her death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Jackson County Sheriff's Department at 228-769-3065.
