Investigation underway after a defenseless opossum was intentionally set on fire

“To say that we are sick to the stomach is an absolute understatement,” this how a Facebook post by the Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center begins after an innocent and defenseless opossum was intentionally set on fire.


The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the FBI are investigating the incident which took place on April 25, 2025, in Charlotte.


The three evil scum responsible for the vile act filmed the incident and then posted the video on their social media accounts. The sickening video showed them squirt lighter fluid at the helpless opossum before setting him/her on fire.


WCCB reports: “Those three people are not just cruel but also stupid, as it appears they uploaded the video online to their own social media accounts, making it easy to identify them. In fact, on Friday night they were online bragging about it.”


Officials with the Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center say the three individuals could face felony charges.

Morgan Rafael, founder and executive director of the Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center, also said in the Facebook post: “We have seen hateful acts against wildlife, the abuse and cruelty that they suffer every single day but for someone to take a flame torch to an opossum is really beyond imagination. This is as close to evil as someone can get. No animal, human, living creature deserves such hate.”

ALEXANDER CUEVA arrested for viciously attacking his young puppy

- California, USA -


The Long Beach Police Department arrested 28-year-old ALEXANDER CUEVA.


CUEVA is accused of slamming his puppy to the ground. The incident, which took place in the early morning of April 21, 2025, in the 200 block of East 12th Street, was filmed and posted on social media by CUEVA.


In a press release, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman recounted the distressing details of the incident. According to the release, CUEVA was “captured on video hoisting his 6- to 8-month-old German Shepherd mix, Inara, by the neck with a leash, slamming her to the pavement, and kicking her in the face while she lay motionless. He then suspended the dog again and rode away on a skateboard, dragging her out of frame.”


Police said officers and detectives have worked tirelessly to locate CUEVA.


On April 22, 2025, detectives from the Special Investigations Division in collaboration with the High Crime Focus Team, tracked down the scum in the 800 block of Pine Avenue and placed him under arrest. CUEVA was transported to Long Beach City Jail.


On April 24, 2025, DA Hochman announced that one felony count of cruelty to an animal was filed against CUEVA and said that he faces a special allegation of personal use of a deadly and dangerous weapon, a leash.

If convicted as charged, CUEVA faces up to only four years in state prison.


Police said that CUEVA additionally had an outstanding No Bail warrant and remains in custody.


Inara was successfully rescued and is now safely in the care of Long Beach Animal Care Services. The agency wrote in a Facebook post: “She is currently energetic, bright, and responsive. She sustained some injuries consistent with suspected trauma, but is expected to heal with time and care. She will be placed in a foster home for her recovery.

This is an ongoing investigation, so at this time, we are unable to share further details. We will share future updates and pictures once she is settled in her foster home.

Please be aware that there are reports of possible scams regarding gofundme pages claiming to have the dog in their care. The dog will remain with Long Beach Animal Care Services.”


Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish said: “This type of cruelty has no place in our community. I want to thank our detectives and officers for their outstanding work in swiftly identifying and apprehending the suspect. We remain committed to ensuring those who harm others—especially the most vulnerable—are held accountable. We recognize the deep concern this incident caused throughout our community and appreciate the public’s assistance in sharing critical information.”


The investigation remains ongoing.

ALEJANDRO ACOSTA OLIVEROS arrested for murdering innocent cats in Santa Ana neighborhood

The Santa Ana Police Department announced the arrest of 45-year-old ALEJANDRO ACOSTA OLIVEROS (pictured), in connection with a serial cat killer investigation.


According to the police press release provided to Voice For Us, over the several weeks, the department received multiple disturbing reports regarding the suspected abuse and killing of cats in a local neighborhood.

“The reports alleged that a man had been luring neighborhood cats to and around his property, where he then harmed or killed them”, stated the release.


A Police Investigative Specialist (PIS) immediately assumed the investigation of the case during which ACOSTA OLIVEROS was “positively identified by several victims and witnesses as the suspect responsible for acts of animal cruelty”, said police.


The evidence gathered during the investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at ACOSTA OLIVEROS’ home in the 2300 block of W. Wilshire Avenue on April 23, 2025.

The search warrant was executed in collaboration with the Animal Control Division of the Santa Ana Police Department and the Westminster Police Department.

Police said the search led to the discovery and confiscation of evidence found at the home related to the case.


ACOSTA OLIVEROS was taken into custody and booked at the Santa Ana Jail on felony animal cruelty charges.


Officials couldn’t provide the exact number of cats ACOSTA OLIVEROS is believed to have harmed, but it is over a dozen.
