The Gaston County Police Department made an arrest in reference to an animal cruelty case that occurred last month.
On October 3, 2024, Gaston County Police Animal Care and Enforcement responded to a home on 2106 Withers Street in Gastonia where officials found six dogs chained up. Police said in a press release that all the furvictims appeared to be “severely malnourished with multiple injuries.”
All the dogs were removed and according to police, they are “with a rescue organization which is providing comprehensive care for them, focusing on socialization and meeting their general needs to support their well-being and development.”
As the investigation progressed, on November 26, 2024, police arrested 49-year-old BOBBY LEE WATSON (pictured).
WATSON was charged with six counts of animal cruelty and booked into the Gaston County Jail. He was released after posting a $100,000 bond.
Police did not release any additional information about the dogs, so I emailed the Department as well as Gaston County Police Animal Care and Enforcement. If I get a response, I will post an update.
