UPDATE: Dog abused on video by ASHTEN NICOLE GOECKEL is getting TLC at the Gwinnett County Jail

- Georgia, Gwinnett County, USA -

UPDATE on the 18-month-old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel abused on video by her guardian, 30-year-old ASHTEN NICOLE GOECKEL (pictured below).

Gwinnett Daily Post reports that according to officials, the furbaby “is getting some tender loving care at the Gwinnett County Jail.”

The puppy was taken in as a foster pet by the Jail Dogs program that partners jail inmates with dogs to help with the inmates' rehabilitation while they are incarcerated.

Sheriff Conway said that “deputies and inmates are already smitten with this sweet puppy.”

He added: “She already seems quite at home and is enjoying the tender care she's receiving.”

On Tuesday, August 11, the Duluth Police Department was made aware of a video depicting a female abusing her dog.

The abuse took place on GOECKEL’s apartment balcony at the District Apartment homes in downtown Duluth.

The disturbing video shows GOECKEL grabbing her dog by the collar and while she is holding her, she repeatedly slams her against a wall and then hits her with a sandal.

At some point GOECKEL looks around to see if anyone is watching.

The very same day, Duluth Police tracked her down and questioned her about the incident.

She admitted to the abuse and said: “I know I lost my temper on my dog, I am sorry.”

She claimed she lost her temper after experiencing a flare up with Crohn’s disease (a lifelong condition where parts of the digestive system become inflamed).

As a result of the senseless and cruel abuse the pooch suffered an eye injury.

The Gwinnett Sheriff's Office said the pup is not currently available for adoption.
