On Thursday, October 22, 2026, 62-year-old GUADALUPE CAMARILLO GUARNEROS pleaded guilty to four counts of conspiracy to commit a crime, a gross misdemeanor offense, in District Court.

The case stemmed from an investigation launched in June 2026, after a horse was found dead in front of a residence in the 1300 block of Ringe Lane in east Las Vegas.

The plea agreement covers four counts of conspiracy to commit a crime. Other counts involve allegations of cruelty to 21 chickens, a kitten, a ferret, a piglet, 10 pigs, and a puppy. Those counts accuse CAMARILLO GUARNEROS of depriving the animals of sustenance, shelter, or medical care.

In June, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) issued a press release stating that on June 27, its Animal Cruelty Section discovered a video on social media depicting a suspected animal cruelty incident. According to the release, the video showed a white, single-cab pickup truck pulling a dark-colored horse with white markings.

Police said neighbors later found the horse dead at the aforementioned location.

Investigators appealed to the community for help identifying the driver of the pickup truck and the horse’s guardian.

On July 3, 2026, LVMPD issued a follow-up press release announcing that detectives had identified CAMARILLO GUARNEROS as the suspect in the case.

On July 2, investigators had obtained a search warrant for a Ford F-150 registered to CAMARILLO GUARNEROS and his residence. When they arrived at the home, CAMARILLO GUARNEROS was not there, so they spoke with his wife. She claimed that they had been separated for the previous eight months and that he had not been home for the past two months. However, investigators reported finding medication and clothing indicating that CAMARILLO GUARNEROS was still living at the residence.

CAMARILLO GUARNEROS later turned himself in to police and was taken into custody. He was subsequently booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of willful or malicious torture, maiming, or killing of a dog, cat, or other animal.

According to KLAS, an arrest report states that CAMARILLO GUARNEROS told police he typically walked his horse, named Pinto, “by affixing a lasso to his neck and attaching the lasso to his truck, doing this twice a week.”

CAMARILLO GUARNEROS also told police that he did not physically walk Pinto because of his health issues. Given the summer heat, he said, he chose to walk Pinto using his truck instead. He claimed he was unsure how fast he had been driving on June 25, 2026, when Pinto died. He also told police that he drove in neutral while dragging Pinto along.

According to KLAS, neighbors reported that Pinto appeared frightened and struggled to remain upright while being dragged behind the truck before collapsing and dying.

Pinto’s body was subsequently disposed of at Republic Services by Logistical Solutions.
