DEAHVION J. NOBLES charged after Pitbull found “significantly underweight” in Troy
- New York, USA -
The Troy Police Department announced the arrest of 20-year-old DEAHVION J. NOBLES.
The investigation into NOBLES began on September 9, 2026, when the City of Troy Animal Control was alerted to a case of animal neglect involving an 8-month-old female Pitbull mix puppy named Sage.
According to a police press release, Sage was found to be “neglected, significantly underweight and exhibiting symptoms requiring medical treatment.”
Animal Control took Sage to Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital for treatment while investigators and Animal Control continued their investigation.
The investigation led to NOBLES, Sage’s guardian, being charged with misdemeanor failure to provide proper sustenance. NOBLES turned himself in to Troy Police on October 20, 2026, and was later released.
Court records show that NOBLES is scheduled to be arraigned on November 16, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Anne L. Coonrad.
As for Sage, police said she remains in the care of the City of Troy Animal Control, where she is receiving much-needed care. According to police, Sage is improving each day. She is not available for adoption while the criminal case is pending.
The Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office will oversee the prosecution of the case.
In a written statement, Troy Mayor Carmella R. Mantello said: “Animal cruelty and neglect are unacceptable, and we have a responsibility to protect those who cannot speak for themselves. I want to thank our Troy Animal Control team, Troy Police detectives, and the veterinary professionals at Capital District Veterinary Hospital for their compassionate response and commitment to Sage’s care. We will continue to take these cases seriously and work with our law enforcement partners to ensure accountability. Sage deserves compassion, proper care, and the opportunity for a healthy future.”
