On Tuesday, June 21, deputies with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on Beck Drive in Cocoa, after receiving a call about an overdose.

Deputies found three dogs who were suffering from mange. According to deputies, two of the dogs were suffering from hair loss, and the third had internal injuries.

There was no sign of water for the poor souls and dog food had been scattered over a large quantity of feces that was covering the floor.

After executing a search warrant, deputies removed the VOICELESS VICTIMS.

One is named Kona, another one is named Shady, and the third one has been disrespectfully identified as 982378 because her guardians did not name the furbaby so, “a number was assigned instead”, reports ClickOrlando.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey as usual took to Facebook to ask for the public’s assistance in finding the furbabies’ guardians identified as 43-years-old JAMIE LEIGH DAVIS and her husband 46-years-old JAVIER LEIGH DAVIS (both pictured).

In a video posted on the sheriff’s office Facebook page, Sheriff Ivey advised that he was offering a $1,000 reward in exchange for information on the couple’s whereabouts. As he was caressing Shady he said: “I want both of them in the Brevard County Jail. I am personally gonna walk their butts into the Brevard County Jail for what they have done to this poor dog. They’re on the run, there are active warrants for animal cruelty. I want ‘em in our jail, I want ‘em off the streets, and I want them to suffer. Actually, what I’d like to do to them, I can’t by law do to them.”

The community responded and within five hours, both scum were arrested.

They were booked into the Brevard County Jail and records show they are each charged with aggravated animal cruelty and unlawful confinement abandonment of animal.

According to court records, the pair’s arraignment is set for July 28, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. before Judge Michelle A. Baker.

In an interview with WESH, Sheriff Ivey rightfully said: “When we look for someone who has the ability to harm an animal, that person has that same ability to harm humans. Usually, you’ll see that transition where they will go from hurting an animal to hurting a human or doing both simultaneously.”

If only a lot of judges out there kept this tragic reality in mind, there would be fewer animal abusers gifted with just probation or sentenced to ridiculous sentences!!!

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said the department elevates the focus on animal cruelty arrests because they traditionally don’t receive much attention.

Thanks to an anonymous tip, or like Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said, “the anonymous Hero that reported this death trap”, four innocent dogs are now safe.

On Friday, June 17, deputies responded to a home on Andora Street in Lehigh Acres to assist Lee County Domestic Animal Services. Officials found four dogs, ranging from 1 to 10 years old, “locked in cages enclosed in a locked shed”, said Sheriff Marceno during a press conference. One of the furbabies was pregnant. There was no ventilation and no food.

It was 94 degrees outside and the temperature inside the shed was 111 degrees.

Sheriff Marceno said that Lee County Domestic Animal Services responded twice to the same house last week, and gave 23-years-old DONTE JAMAAL SWEETING (pictured) a chance to improve the living conditions these furbabies were in, “but he didn’t take it seriously.”

Now, the sheriff’s office legal team will petition the court to keep the dogs from going back to SWEETING. The VOICELESS VICTIMS are currently in the care of the Lee County Domestic Animal Services.

SWEETING was booked into the Lee County Jail on four counts of tormenting or depriving an animal. Online arrest records show he was released a few hours later and a court date has been set for July 5, 2022, at 8:00 a.m.

Following a call to the Jefferson County Humane Society and Jefferson County Animal Shelter on May 28, about animal cruelty and an injured dog at a home in Wintersville, the organization obtained a warrant and on Friday, June 3, agents removed a total of “6 pets” according to a Facebook post by the organization.

Brandi Denoon-Damewood, JCHS Marketing Manager told WTRF: “All of these animals had suffered these broken bones over the course of probably years. There’s injuries that have been healed, but healed incorrectly, some deformities, things like that.”

WTOV 9 reports that it started two months ago when a dog was brought to the shelter as a stray and had a broken leg.

Among the furbabies removed from the property, was a pregnant mama dog, a puppy, a cat, and a dog named Buddy who required surgery on Monday, June 7, to have his right rear leg amputated.

In a Facebook post of June 3, Brandi said: “Buddy came to us through our Humane Operations Department with a severe injury to his leg. X-Rays reveal a broken bone that was never treated and began to heal improperly, causing him so much agony.”

Buddy’s surgery went well and he is recovering. After his surgery Brandi told WTRF: “He’s also receiving laser therapy to help his body heal a little faster, but right now he’s just taking it easy over at our clinic, so we can keep a close eye on him. The other ones are doing really well and they’re recovering quite nicely.”

Sadly, one cat passed away.

Brandi explained that the animals are now safe because someone spoke up and emphasized the importance of reporting animal cruelty.

Brandi also said that this is a pending case so no more information can be released at this time.
