MARIUS HENRI BLAKE shot and paralyzed a Chihuahua to teach him a lesson

The Memphis Police Department arrested 49-year-old MARIUS HENRI BLAKE (pictured).

 

On May 7, 2024, a Memphis Animal Shelter Officer and a Memphis Police Officer responded to a home on Devoy Avenue after receiving an animal cruelty complaint.

 

Upon arrival, the officers met with the reporting party and she explained that two weeks prior, she spoke with BLAKE about one of his dogs dragging his back legs.

 

According to the affidavit, BLAKE told the woman he had shot the dog because “He was teaching that mother****** a lesson.”

 

Officers then went to BLAKE’s house and in the backyard, there was a dog pen with a female Chihuahua and a male Chihuahua. The male Chihuahua was moving around dragging his small back legs.

 

The officers reported that the pen was covered in feces and the Voiceless Victims did not have clean water or shade. Inside the pen was a small doghouse and a couple of water dishes that were filled with dark brown water and had leaves in them.

 

Both furvictims were removed from that disgraceful environment and were taken to Memphis Animal Shelter. The male Chihuahua had an X-ray which showed metal shrapnel near his spine that caused the paralysis of his lower half. The poor soul went a month without medical care as the vet said that the wound appeared to be four weeks old.

 

A warrant was issued for BLAKE’s arrest and he was taken into custody on July 8, 2024. BLAKE was booked into the Shelby County Jail on animal cruelty charges and bond was set at $80,000.

Arrest records show that BLAKE was released and was slated to be arraigned on July 10, 2024, at 9:00 a.m.

I was not able to find his court records and I do not know the outcome of the hearing.

MARIEL PALOMINOCAMPOS, ERNEST AUGUSTIN, and YUNIESKI CAMPOSHARTMAN arrested in Collier County

The Naples Police Department arrested 24-year-old MARIEL PALOMINOCAMPOS, 38-year-old ERNEST AUGUSTIN, and 42-year-old YUNIESKI CAMPOSHARTMAN (all pictured).

 

On the early afternoon of Sunday, July 7, 2024, Officers were dispatched to the area of the Naples Pier after a report was filed regarding a city ordinance violation related to dogs on a beach and animal cruelty.

 

The reporting party advised that she saw two people pulling a beach cart up the beach with several dogs in it. She also saw several people approach those with the cart and offer them water. After speaking with a few beachgoers, the reporting party learned that the duo with the cart were trying to sell the puppies.

 

When Officers arrived at the scene, they saw three individuals, later identified as PALOMINOCAMPOS, AUGUSTIN, and CAMPOSHARTMAN, walking on the beach with a wagon covered by a blanket.

 

One of the Officers stopped the trio, lifted the blanket, and just like it was reported, she found several puppies inside. As stated in the affidavit, the blanket was being used to hide them but ultimately it was just depriving the puppies of fresh air. That day Naples was under a heat advisory.

 

In the wagon, the Officer found one adult female Maltese dog, and five Maltese puppies, one female and four males. The Officer promptly realized that two of the puppies were in distress and near unresponsive from a possible heat related injury or sickness with shallow breathing.

 

Immediately, the Officer placed the puppies into her police vehicle with the air conditioner on high. Thankfully, after approximately twenty minutes, the puppies seemed to recover.

 

Collier County Domestic Animal Services were called in and the responding Officer took all of the Voiceless Victims to a shelter for medical evaluation.

 

The Naples Police Department tells me that “following examination by Collier DAS staff, all of the dogs are healthy, exhibiting normal behaviors, with no signs of heat distress. All of the dogs have been vaccinated and micro chipped by Collier DAS staff following their examinations.”

 

The investigation determined that the trio “unnecessarily overloaded and deprived the dogs of necessary sustenance or shelter in a cruel manner.” As stated in the affidavit, the trio had the “ability to stop, provide the dogs water or shaded shelter, but none chose to do so.”

 

PALOMINOCAMPOS, AUGUSTIN, and CAMPOSHARTMAN were placed under arrest and charged with animal cruelty torment/deprive/mutilate/kill any animal, a misdemeanor of the first degree.

 

At the time of writing, records show that the trio were released after posting bond and their arraignment is slated to take place on July 31, 2024, at 8:30 a.m.

DAVID WILSON RIVERA JR, ex-New Canaan cop, sentenced for role in killing dogs at Black Rock Canine

On July 8, 2024, 36-year-old DAVID WILSON RIVERA JR (pictured), former New Canaan police officer and owner of Black Rock Canine, was sentenced in Waterbury Superior Court for his role in the death of many dogs at his business.

 

It all started in April 2022, when the Naugatuck Police Department was notified by the Department of Agriculture, the Stratford Police Department, the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad, and the State Police Bomb Squad about an investigation into RIVERA as a New Canaan police officer.

 

Naugatuck Police then began an investigation into Black Rock Canine, a facility on Hunters Mountain Road in Naugatuck aimed at training military and police dogs. The facility was housing thirty-six dogs. In connection with this investigation, Naugatuck Police arrested in May 2022, RIVERA, his father, DAVID RIVERA SR, and general manager 35-year-old DANIEL TAYLOR LUNA (both also pictured).

 

RIVERA JR and LUNA turned themselves in on May 2, 2022.

 

LUNA was accused of abusing numerous dogs and puppies, leaving puppies outside in harsh weather elements leading to their death, and shooting dogs who were “useless” to the business.

 

RIVERA JR. was charged with conspiracy to commit cruelty to animals, reckless endangerment in the first degree, and conspiracy to commit euthanization of a canine.

 

At that point, RIVERA was already facing explosive charges. He had been arrested after explosives were found at his Stratford home. RIVERA used the explosives in his business training working dogs for various organizations and according to the warrant, he had no permit for the possession of the high explosives and also had an assault weapon.

 

On May 3, 2022, Naugatuck police executed another search and seizure warrant at Black Rock Canines and removed the thirty-one (31) remaining dogs. The furvictims were placed in the care of different shelters. Officials also discovered the remains of four dogs on the property.

 

During a press conference, Naugatuck Police Chief Colin McAllister said that several dogs were abused and injured while at Black Rock Canine and that RIVERA and LUNA shot and killed at least ten dogs and buried them on the property.

 

For his malicious wounding or killing of an animal charge RIVERA was sentenced to five years, suspended after two years with three years of probation to follow.

For the reckless endangerment charge, he was sentenced to 364 days in jail to be served concurrently.

In total, RIVERA will serve three years in jail followed by three years of probation.
