RANDY VINCE MAESTAS arrested after shooting his roommate’s dog

- Louisiana, USA -

On Thursday, April 2, deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on the 4600 block of Bayouside Drive in Chauvin, to investigate a report about a dog being shot.

Upon arrival deputies learned that the dog’s parent and her roommate had been grocery shopping.

When they returned, she put her white Labrador retriever in a kennel inside the home.

At some point, while the pup’s parent was outside, she heard shots fired from the inside the property.

The furbaby had been shot while still inside the kennel and suffered multiple wounds.

Deputies recovered a 9-mm pistol.

Following an investigation, the roommate of the pup’s parent, 37-year-old RANDY VINCE MAESTAS (pictured below), of Las Vegas, was arrested and taken into custody.

Terrebonne Parish Animal Control also responded to the scene and transported the wounded dog to the parish animal shelter.

Sadly, the furbaby did not make it.

Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter Manager Valerie Robinson said:“ From what we can understand the dog was shot multiple times in the face and torso.”

Ms. Robinson also said: “My team rushed the dog back to the shelter but unfortunately with all those wounds he wasn’t able to survive. We couldn’t save him. It was a tough one yesterday for my team. We’re still trying to wrap our brains around it.”

RANDY VINCE MAESTAS was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex and was booked for aggravated cruelty to animals.

His bond was set at $5,000.
