The Wilton Manors Police Department made an animal cruelty arrest in reference to the callous abandonment of five helpless kittens at Donn Eisele Park.
Police said that a video circulated showing a female arriving at 701 NW 29 Street in a red Kia. The female is seen “grabbing a taped box from the vehicle and carrying it into the park. She proceeds to rip open the box and dump out five kittens. The woman and male passenger get back into the vehicle and leave the area, abandoning the kittens”.
According to police, the incident happened on April 5, 2026, at 10:07 a.m.
A person who was walking his dog found four of the five kittens and thankfully, the fifth kitten was later found by Hope Gold with Castaways Animal Rescue Effort.
An investigation into the incident identified the female as 29-year-old KATHERINE LUCIANO (pictured).
LUCIANO was arrested on April 9, 2026, and charged with five misdemeanor counts of abandoning an animal and five misdemeanor counts of animal abuse.
The day following her arrest, LUCIANO appeared before Broward Circuit Court Judge Corey Brian Friedman and was given a $5,000 bond. LUCIANO was released on the condition that she does not have any pets while on pretrial release.
While police said that all the five kittens are doing fine and have been adopted, it is unclear where their mother is.
It’s also unknown whether the male who drove LUCIANO to the park to dump the kittens will be facing charges.
