The Henderson County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 24-year-old PAMELA LEEANN PEARL LOPEZ and 26-year-old WILLIAM SHELTON SANDERS (both pictured).
On February 26, 2026, Animal Enforcement Officers responded to a call requesting a welfare check on two dogs who were believed to have been abandoned at a residence for approximately two weeks.
When the officers arrived at the home, they looked through the window and saw that inside there were two dogs.
The sheriff’s office said in its press release that the furvictims “appeared to be severely underweight, with their ribs, backbone, and hips clearly visible.”
Animal Enforcement Officers removed both dogs and took them to Henderson County Animal Services (HCAS) for evaluation and care.
The investigation into the incident determined that LOPEZ and SANDERS had been living at the home and callously left the two dogs behind when they moved out.
LOPEZ and SANDERS were taken into custody on March 6, 2026, and charged with felony animal cruelty.
At the time of writing, records show that the pair are being held at the Henderson County Detention Center and are scheduled to appear at Henderson District Court on March 17, 2026, at 8:45 a.m.
According to the sheriff's office, since being placed in the care of HCAS, the furvictims have already gained approximately 10 pounds within the first week. They are now receiving the proper nutrition, medical attention, and care they deserve.
