The Lamoille County Sheriff's Department, assisted by multiple agencies, rescued nearly sixty Huskies, including puppies, from a Hyde Park barn

The Lamoille County Sheriff's Department reached out to the ASPCA for assistance with an investigation into a Hyde Park barn.

The ASPCA said in a press release that when its agents responded to the scene, they found nearly sixty (60) maltreated Huskies, including puppies, living in “unsanitary and overcrowded conditions.”

The agency explained that many of the dogs “were tethered to chains with limited ability to move freely and/or living in kennels saturated with urine and with a strong odor of ammonia throughout.” The press release went on to say, “Some of the dogs appeared to be underweight and showed signs of dehydration, and no food or water appeared to be present.”

Teresa Ladner, vice president of ASPCA Criminal Practice & Investigations, said: “When we arrived on the property, it was clear immediate intervention was necessary to remove these animals from the extremely poor conditions they were subjected to so we could provide them with much-needed care and treatment.”

All of the furvictims were removed from the barn and were taken to an ASPCA recovery facility “where they are receiving forensic veterinary and behavior examinations, medical treatment and behavioral care.”

Lamoille County Sheriff Roger Marcoux Jr. said the investigation is ongoing and animal cruelty charges are pending based on evidence collected by his department with the assistance of ASPCA legal, investigative, and forensic veterinary and behavior experts supporting the case.
