The Chico Police Department arrested 21-years-old KATRINA LORETHA OCEANT (pictured) after she stabbed her dog and then left the furbaby to die.
Police said OCEANT called them reporting that her dog had bitten her and said she had stabbed him/her with a knife. According to the police OCEANT made the call a few hours after the events.
Officers responded to the female’s home in the 1400 block of W. 3rd Street in Chico and as she was being treated for her injuries, officers found the dog in an orchard field near OCEANT’s home.
Police said: “Unfortunately, the dog had suffered severe and non-recoverable injuries” and was euthanized to end his/her suffering.
According to investigators, OCEANT provided a series of events that “were inconsistent with the injuries she sustained.”
OCEANT was arrested on Sunday, August 28, 2022, for animal cruelty.
Online records show she is being held in the Butte County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
