The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 20-year-old IVAN GARCIA (pictured below) for aggravated animal cruelty.
According to a Facebook post by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, on February 11, deputies responded to a home on 408 Rushmore Avenue S. in Lehigh Acres about an animal cruelty report after a witness had heard a dog yelping and GARCIA screaming at the furbaby.
Upon arrival, deputies found a black Pitbull named Kano who had several lacerations and scars on his face.
The Sheriff’s Office say GARCIA was found with blood and dog hair on him.
Due to the nature of the incident, the Animal Cruelty Task Force and East Criminal Investigations Division assumed the investigation.
Detectives executed a search warrant on GARCIA’s home.
When deputies searched GARCIA’s home, they found animal blood on the walls and determined Kano had been severely beaten.
Kano was taken to Lee County Domestic Animal Services to receive medical treatment.
GARCIA was booked into the Lee County Jail and online records show that he is scheduled to appear in court on March 15, at 8:30 a.m.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno said: “If you think you can violently abuse an innocent animal, think again. This behavior will not be tolerated!”
