BILLY RAY WRIGHT arrested after his dog was left outside in cold temperatures

- Illinois, USA -

Joliet Police say that 59-year-old BILLY RAY WRIGHT (pictured below), left his Pitbull named Buddy outside in the frigid cold.

Patch reports that according to the police report, on February 11, Joliet squad responded to WRIGHT’s residence in the 1300 block of Clark Street after receiving a report about a dog who was being left outside in the cold.

WRIGHT was present and was questioned.

Joliet police said: “It was determined the dog was outside in a doghouse with no food, water, or other items to stay warm. The temperature at the time was 19 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill of 9 degrees Fahrenheit.”

According to police WRIGHT refused to care for his dog.

Thankfully, a Will County animal control officer took custody of Buddy.

Subsequently, on Thursday, February 25, the Will County State's Attorney Office of Jim Glasgow approved the criminal charges and a judge issued a bench warrant for WRIGHT’s arrest.

As reported by Patch, on the night of Thursday, February 25, Joliet police went back to WRIGHT’s residence and placed him under arrest.

WRIGHT is facing three counts of cruel treatment to animals and violation of owner’s duties.

WRIGHT is being lodged in the Will County Jail where a judge set bail at $75,000.

The day after WRIGHT’s arrest, police said about the furbaby: “It was determined the dog's chain was frozen to the ground and the dog appeared to be suffering from a serious skin infection near its neck.”

Why do you get animals if you are not going to properly care for them?????

Many thanks to whoever reported the suffering of a voiceless breathing being!
