ALLISON LYN GAISER accused of abandoning her dog at a Pennsylvania airport before flying to Mexico

- Pennsylvania, USA -

On Thursday, August 24, 2023, Allegheny County Police announced that animal cruelty charges, among others, have been filed against 44-years-old ALLISON LYN GAISER of Kittanning, Armstrong County, for abandoning her dog at Pittsburgh International Airport on August 4, 2023.

In a brief news release, police said, “Investigators determined Gaiser intentionally abandoned the dog near short-term parking before boarding a plane to a resort destination in Mexico.”

The furvictim, a male French Bulldog, was found by an Allegheny County police officer about 5:30 a.m. “sitting in the stroller outside the moving walkway enclosure next to glass exit doors in the short-term parking lot”, reports TRIB LIVE.

According to the news outlet, the dog was not restrained and under the stroller was a bowl with a bag of dog food inside, but there was no water.

The dog was microchipped and information identified the guardian as ALICIA GAISER with a couple of phone numbers. There were also a couple of emergency contacts but police’s attempts to contact them were unsuccessful.

Investigators were able to find GAISER’s Facebook account showing pictures of her with the dog she abandoned. After reviewing surveillance cameras, investigators learned that about 4:23 a.m. GAISER pushed the stroller with the dog in it as she entered the moving walkway from the long-term parking lot and then went to an airline ticket counter. After that, GAISER can be seen pushing the stroller with the dog inside back toward the moving walkway. Footage further showed GAISER heading to the spot where the dog was found and returning to the ticket counter without the furbaby.

GAISER returned from her trip on August 10, 2023, and police were at the airport waiting for her. According to police, GAISER admitted to leaving the dog. GAISER said she tried to take her dog with her but the airline wouldn’t allow him on the plane as he did not meet the criteria for an emotional support animal and did not have a proper kennel as required. GAISER went on to say that she made arrangements with her mother to pick up the dog from the airport and allowed police to review the text messages she exchanged with her mother. However, police said it was apparent that no immediate arrangement was made to pick up the dog.

Furthermore, GAISER’s mother told police that she only found out about her “grand doggie” being abandoned at the airport after her daughter’s ex-husband shared a news story about the dog being left at the airport.

Police said that the Voiceless Victim “is doing well and is still being fostered.”

GAISER is charged with “one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty, along with summary violations of animal cruelty, animal neglect and abandonment of animals by owner. These charges are being issued via summons”, said police.

GAISER’s preliminary hearing is slated to take place on October 16, 2023.

Animal Friends of Pittsburgh and the state dog warden assisted with the investigation.
