Update: August 3, 2022

I have emailed the Parker County Sheriff’s Office to request additional information about the dogs and I kindly heard back from Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier.

In an email Sheriff Authier said: “All 3 dogs were male hound mixes. The deceased dog was a 3 year old named Bumpy. The two surviving dogs are a 3 year old named Red and an 8 year old (name unknown) nicknamed, by the shelter, asOld Man”, which are currently in our custody.”

Sheriff Authier also provided me with pictures of Red and Old Man.

The Parker County Sheriff’s Office said that its Criminal Investigations Division arrested 38-years-old LEVI CLAYTON TENBRINK (pictured) as a result of an investigation launched after a welfare check at a property in the 200 block of Fairview Lane in Millsap.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office said that a Sheriff’s Animal Control officer responded to the aforementioned property and discovered three dogs in kennels in direct sun with the outside temperature registering over 100-degrees.

The officer reported the furbabies being in distress, showing signs of heat exhaustion, and panting heavily. The officer observed that the dogs had no water or adequate shade.

Sadly, one of the dogs was found lifeless inside a kennel and there was no water for the poor soul.

As stated in the release, TENBRINK, identified as the dogs’ guardian, was out of town at the time of the incident. He reportedly told deputies and animal control officers that he had been searching for tarps to provide the dogs with shade but was unsuccessful. TENBRINK also said that he had left earlier that morning and gave the dogs water before he left town.

The sheriff’s office said that a concerned citizen heard the dogs barking and saw them penned in direct sunlight. The person then brought water to the furbabies in a portable tub.

Behind TENBRINK’s home, deputies found a portable shelter which did have adequate shade but there were no dogs inside. When they asked TENBRINK about it, TENBRINK said he had moved the dogs from there because they kept barking at passersby.

The two live dogs were taken to a local veterinarian where they received treatment for heat exhaustion and dehydration.

As for the deceased furbaby, a necropsy was performed to determine the cause of death and results showed that he/she died from heat stroke and dehydration.

TENBRINK was arrested on Saturday, July 30, and charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals.

Online records show TENBRINK was released after posting a $2,5000 bond.

Almost three years after 56-years-old FRANK JAVIER FONSECA (pictured) was caught on camera torturing his defenseless dog, a sentence has finally been handed down.

In June 2022, in the 226th District Court, FONSECA was sentenced to 25 years in prison, which is one of the longest punishments for animal cruelty ever recorded in Texas.

FONSECA had past felony convictions which also determined a heavier sentence.

It all started on February 5, 2019, in the 1200 block of Fenfield in the City of San Antonio when a Good Samaritan recorded FONSECA in his front porch repeatedly hitting his dog, a Rottweiler named Buddy.

Animal Care Services said that the graphic video showed FONSECA hitting Buddy first with his fists, he then used a piece of wood and he then went on to kick and choke Buddy.

FONSECA justified his vile action by saying to investigators that he was punishing Buddy for getting out of the yard.

Court records show FONSECA was arrested in September 2021.

Thankfully, Buddy recovered from his physical injuries and now lives with a new adoptive family.

I hope that Buddy also recovered emotionally from the horrific ordeal he experienced.
