Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard announced the arrest of 31-years-old JAMIE LAWRENCE GOULD (pictured).

In a news release, Sheriff Allard said that on August 11, 2023, deputies responded to a report about a male dragging a puppy.

After reaching out to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, I learned the following:

Mr. Gould had obtained the puppy the day of his arrest on 08/11/2023 from an unknown source. Shortly after obtaining the puppy, he was seen with the puppy in the Town of Bath. Several witnesses reported that Mr. Gould was dragging the puppy on a leash, which was wrapped around the puppy[‘s] neck with no collar. He was also seen by the witnesses tossing the puppy to the ground from waist level. His actions did injure the puppy.”

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office tells me that two members of the sheriff’s office quickly removed the puppy and immediately took the furbaby to a local vet. The puppy was found to be injured.

The email from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office stated that GOULD “willingly turned the puppy over and is currently in foster care.” I further learned that the Voiceless Victim is a male and has been renamed Sargent. It is believed that Sargent is between 6-8 weeks old. The good news is that Sargent has since fully recovered and is doing well.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office alleges that GOULD, of State Route 415, Bath, New York, “unlawfully possessed a controlled substance.”

GOULD was arrested and charged with Torturing or Injuring an Animal and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.

He was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office tells me that at this time the investigation is still pending, so no additional information can be released.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Office arrested 46-years-old BRANDON KEVIN HICKS (pictured) for animal cruelty among other charges.

According to a press release by the sheriff’s office obtained by Voice For Us, on July 23, 2023, deputies were called to Cameron Hospital in Angola just before 12:30 p.m. for a report of a sexual assault. Deputies were able to gather initial information from the female victim. She told deputies that in the early morning, her live-in boyfriend, HICKS, “was intoxicated and allegedly battered, strangled, and sexually assaulted her.”

At one point, the woman’s dog stepped in to defend her and HICKS struck the dog with a closed fist.

Reportedly, the incident happened at a residence in the 5900 block of North SR 327 in the town of Orland.

HICKS was taken into custody the same day and booked into the Steuben County Jail on one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty as well as rape, strangulation, and domestic battery.

HICKS is being held without bond pending an initial hearing which according to court records is scheduled for July 25, 2023.

I have emailed the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office to inquire about the furvictim and his/her well-being. The spokesperson said that no additional information is available at this time as the incident is still under investigation. I will post an update as I know more.

Please note that according to the arrest report obtained by Voice For Us, the arrestee’s name is SARA I. TREUSDELL.

However, the press release by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and online sources refer to her as SARA TRUESDELL.

Through a press release, Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard announced that on April 25, 2023, deputies arrested 38-years-old SARA IRENE TREUSDELL of Church Street, Woodhull.

According to the release, the arrest follows an investigation into reports of “dogs running at large and in need of sustenance and care”.

Sheriff Jim Allard tells me that the investigation was launched after the Dog Control Officer for the Town of Woodhull received a complaint from a local resident regarding two dogs who were running loose. At the time, Dog Control Officer took the dogs into custody and filed a complaint with Law Enforcement due to the physical condition of one of the Voiceless Victims.

Sheriff Jim Allard further told me that “Both dogs were named by vet hospital staff as their given names were unknown.”

One of the two furbabies is a brown/tan male Pitbull mix who was named Clyde, and the other furbaby is a black female Rottweiler mix who was named Bonnie.

Clyde was in poor physical condition.

I was relieved and overjoyed to learn that both Bonnie and Clyde “have been under the care of a licensed veterinarian since the beginning of the investigation. They are both doing very well and have made full recoveries.”

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office alleges that TREUSDELL was not providing her dogs with adequate food or care.

TREUSDELL is charged with Torturing/Not Feeding a Domestic Animal.

She was released on an Appearance Ticket to return to Woodhull Town Court at a later date.

I want to echo Sheriff Allard’s appeal: “Remember, reporting animal cruelty is everyone’s business. If you know of a domestic animal that is being maltreated and in need of aid, please report it to your local law enforcement or by calling 911.”

This is an open investigation and no additional information could be disclosed at this time.
