DOMINIQUE TIASHA PARRISH and KELVIN LOVERN SHEPHERD accused of performing illegal procedures on dogs

An animal cruelty investigation conducted by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office led to the execution of a search and seizure warrant at a residence in the 30000 block of Gershwin Road, Charlotte Hall, on January 15, 2025.


According to a press release by the sheriff’s office, at the residence deputies found more than thirty dogs “living in unsafe and unhealthy conditions.” The release stated that many of the dogs “appeared malnourished, underweight, and lacking medical care.”


Deputies learned that the residents of the house, 35-year-old DOMINIQUE TIASHA PARRISH and 51-year-old KELVIN LOVERN SHEPHERD (both pictured), had been performing illegal procedures on the dogs, and evidence of these procedures was recovered at the scene.


Officers from the Animal Services Division of St. Mary’s County Government’s Department of Emergency Services removed a total of thirty-six dogs.

All of the Voiceless Victims were taken to the St. Mary’s County Animal Adoption and Resource Care Center for evaluation and treatment.


PARRISH and SHEPHERD were charged with multiple counts of aggravated animal cruelty, animal cruelty, and performing unlawful medical procedures on dogs.


SHEPHERD was additionally charged with illegal firearm possession as during the search deputies found a Ruger 9mm handgun and ammunition. The sheriff’s office said SHEPHERD is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a prior conviction for a disqualifying crime of violence.


The investigation is ongoing and additional details cannot be disclosed at this time.

MARK ROOSEVELT FIELDS found guilty of stabbing his cousin’s dog who had to be euthanized

Following a two-day trial, on January 10, 2025, a Calvert County jury convicted 39-year-old MARK ROOSEVELT FIELDS (pictured) on aggravated animal cruelty and dangerous weapons charges.


At trial, evidence revealed that on the early evening of May 29, 2024, FIELDS stabbed his cousin’s dog following a family dispute. The incident took place at a residence in the 2000 block of Andelina Road in Prince Frederick.


Calvert County State’s Attorney Robert H. Harvey Jr. tells me that the furvictim was a 5-year-old male American Pitbull Terrier mix named Ice and that his guardians had raised him since he was a puppy.


The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the incident and when deputies arrived at the home, they learned from Ice’s guardians that FIELDS came onto their property with a knife and was calling for Ice’s male guardian whom I will refer to as Mr. McK


Mrs. McK came out and told FILEDS that he was not supposed to be there and asked him why he had a knife. FIELDS told Mrs. McK to go get her husband and added that he was leaving.


Mrs. McK went back inside and as she was telling her husband that FIELDS was outside, FIELDS stabbed Ice.


Ice was rushed to Mid-Atlantic Animal Specialty Hospital (MASH) in Huntingtown. Veterinarians told Mr. and Mrs. McK that the knife had possibly caused an arterial bleed and advised that even with critical care, the prognosis was not good. Sadly, Ice was euthanized due to the extent of the injuries he sustained.


Calvert County Animal Control Officer Alexis King responded to the scene and following an investigation, FIELDS was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty and one felony count of animal cruelty.


On June 3, 2024, during a bail review hearing, Judge Robert B. Riddle ordered FIELDS to be held be held without bond and he has remained in custody throughout the legal process.


FIELDS will be sentenced on March 14, 2025. Until that time, he will be held without bond at the Calvert County Detention Center. He is facing up to only six years in prison.

JONATHAN CLARENCE ROBERTS arrested after dead animals found on a Screven County property

- Georgia, USA -


The Screven County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation after receiving complaints about livestock not being properly taken care of at a property in the 2400 block of Jenk Hill Road in Sylvania.


After executing a search warrant, deputies discovered two dead cows as well as other dead animals “within sight of a public roadway”, stated a release by the sheriff’s office.


Deputies also found two living goats and eleven cows who were malnourished.


Animal Control, a veterinarian, and a Department of Agriculture Inspector assisted with the investigation and it was determined that 73-year-old JONATHAN CLARENCE ROBERTS (pictured), “failed to provide adequate food or water to the animals.”


According to the sheriff’s office, the neglect caused the death of the two cows. The press release further stated that “additional cow carcasses appeared to be left to rot where they died.”


The live animals were removed from the property and taken to an unspecified location to be cared for.


ROBERTS was charged with eleven counts of animal neglect, two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, and one count of abandonment of a dead animal.
