The Ardmore Police Department arrested 34-year-old DERRICK GLENN YOUNG (pictured).

On July 23, 2024, Officer O'Hanlon was on North Washington when he saw a male, later identified as YOUNG, riding a bike and dragging a small white dog on a leash behind the bike.

According to the report obtained by Voice For Us, “The dog appeared to be a puppy and appeared to be in distress.” The officer reported that the puppy was trying his best “to keep from being dragged.”

While Officer O'Hanlon fought against traffic trying to catch up with YOUNG, he saw that several times the leash would get tight, and the puppy would stumble forward to stay on his feet. Furthermore, according to Officer O'Hanlon, YOUNG “never looked back to check on the dog.”

Eventually, the officer was able to stop YOUNG at the intersection of 8th and A NE.

The puppy was sitting down panting very hard and holding his back paws up by using the back elbows. His feet were shaking as if in lots of pain and were dripping blood on the roadway. The outside temperature was in the low 90’s so the road was still hot to the touch.

Officer O'Hanlon reported that when he looked at the puppy’s feet, he saw that “on the back feet the skin was worn off and that was where the blood was coming from. The pads on all four feet were swollen, hot and very hard due to the trauma and hot pavement. When I pushed on the front pad, the puppy cried out in pain.” Officer O’Hanlon then told YOUNG to take the puppy across the street to the shade and YOUNG was going to make the puppy walk across so the officer made him carry the puppy.

Officer O’Hanlon retrieved a bottle of water and gave some to the puppy who was understandably eager to drink. “As soon as he finished, he lay on his side and stretched his feet out and tried to sleep”, stated the report.

The officer then called in Animal Control so they could take the puppy to the animal shelter.

When the officer told YOUNG that he was going to take the puppy, YOUNG did not seem to care and said that he had gotten the puppy the night before.

A couple of hours after Animal Control had picked up the puppy, Officer O’Hanlon went to the shelter to check on him and learned from staff that the pup had already been returned to his guardian whom I will refer to as Ms. C.

Reportedly, Ms. C. had adopted the puppy from the shelter on June 4, 2024, after he was born on March 31, 2024.

Staff at the shelter told Officer O’Hanlon that Ms. C. called them on July 22, 2024, and asked them whether her puppy was there because he was no longer in her backyard.

Thankfully, when the puppy was bought to the shelter by  Animal Control, staff called Ms. C. at work to give her the good news so she took off work and went to pick her furbaby up.

In a written statement provided to the police, Ms. C. said that on the afternoon of July 22, 2024, she put the puppy in the backyard to play and when she went to check on him after about 30 to 45 minutes, he was gone. She checked the gate and the fence and could not figure out how he had gotten out. The gate was shut and there were no holes in the fence.

The Carter County District Attorney’s Office has filed against YOUNG one felony count of cruelty to animals and one felony count of grand larceny.

The Ardmore Police Department kindly provided me with the puppy’s pictures whom they referred to as Binder.

Following a month-long investigation into the killing of a dozen cattle, the Shawnee Police Department arrested 18-year-old CHRISTOPHER JAMES WALLACE (pictured) and a juvenile whose identity was not shared.

WALLACE and the juvenile are accused of using a crossbow to kill cattle who were the property of Saint Gregory’s Abbey, a Roman Catholic monastery on 1900 West MacArthur Street in Shawnee.

Police said that on June 22, 2024, they received the first report about the cattle and then a second report came in on July 22, 2024, when a worker saw flashlights in a field and found a crossbow near a tree.

Police responded to the call and made contact with WALLACE and the juvenile who were subsequently detained and interviewed.

According to police, the cattle were killed for thrill-seeking rather than for the animal’s meat.

On July 24, 2024, a brief release on the monastery’s website read: “Over the past couple of months, the Abbey has lost several cattle due to vandals. The police are investigating these incidents. Meanwhile, the Abbey has lost approximately $25,000-$30,000 worth of beef.  Generous folks have asked to donate to help the monastery recoup some of these losses.”

The Rev. Simeon Spitz told The Oklahoman that he and the abbey's cattle manager “had been concerned about disappearing cattle dating back to October and November 2023.”

He said: “Normally, we check on cattle every three or four days, then we started checking every day. Finally, we found one with an arrow lodged in it.”

Spitz also said that about fourteen (14) cattle were killed, including female calves and bull calves. The innocent souls “would have been sold or raised for beef sold as part of the abbey's Mission Monks label at its Monk's Marketplace”, reports The Oklahoman.

WALLACE is facing four complaints of cruelty to animals and two counts of larceny of livestock.

The case involving the juvenile was sent to a government agency that deals with juvenile offenders.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 39-year-old CODY MARSHALL FITZGERALD, now a former Seminole County Animal Control Officer.

According to the arrest affidavit which I obtained through a public search, on the morning of May 7, 2024, Officer Ricky Amos, acting in the capacity of Seminole Police Chief, was informed by a Seminole State College student that two dogs were inside the double entry doors at the Roesler Residential Hall student housing facility located on campus.

Chief Amos and Officer Tim Curry responded to the scene and when they entered the building, Chief Amos approached the dogs who let him pet them. As reported by Chief Amos: “I did not observe any aggressive behavior with the young dogs.”

Chief Amos contacted Seminole County Central dispatch and requested the assistance of an Animal Control Officer to pick up the dogs.

After approximately an hour, no one showed up from Animal Control so Chief Amos used his own cell phone to search for the Seminole Animal Control Shelter and called the number available on their website. He left a message and since he felt that the dogs were not posing any threat to the students, he and Officer Curry left allowing the dogs to remain where they were until the arrival of an ACO.

Approximately half an hour later, Chief Ramos received a call from Kevin Davidson, an employee of the Seminole State College Maintenance.

Mr. Davidson expressed concerns about the ACO that responded to pick up the dogs.

As Chief Amos and Officer Curry drove back to the scene, they saw FITZGERALD standing behind his Animal Control vehicle. When they approached him, “he appeared upset and noticed his hands were shaking as he was attempting to load a syringe with what appeared to be a sedative used for a tranquilizer gun.”

Chief Amos asked FITZGERALD if he was ok and according to the affidavit, he answered: “I'm tired of this shit.” Chief Amos then asked FITZGERALD whether he had been bitten by the dogs and whether he was bleeding. FITZGERALD responded he had been bitten, however, Chief Amos reported that when he checked his hands, “I did not see any obvious signs of injuries or bleeding at that time.”

At that point Chief Amos offered to take care of the dogs and took the catch pole that was lying next to the Animal Control vehicle.

When Chief Amos went back into the building, he saw Mr. Davidson who appeared upset. Two female students had one of the two dogs who was shaking and did not want to leave the students. Chief Amos learned that the two kind ladies had been feeding and caring for the dogs for a few days.

Mr. Davidson then told Chief Amos that he wanted to show him a video he recorded with his phone “concerning inappropriate actions taken by animal control officer Fitzgerald.”

One hour later, Animal Control officer Brenda Hall also responded to the scene to pick up the dogs. Once the dog who was shaking calmed down, one of the two female students carried him/her to the Animal Control vehicle.

Chief Amos noted: “It was impressive to witness the calm and professional approach to a tense situation by animal control professional Brenda Hall.”

The video, that was thankfully recorded by Mr. Davidson and also posted on his Facebook account, showed FITZGERALD “kneeling on the ground with the weight of his body over the small dog while using his hands to choke and straggle the dog on several occasions.”

The defenseless and helpless dog can be heard crying in pain.

The affidavit stated: “The small dog appeared to be unable to breathe at times and other times was struggling to breath due to the strangulation.”

Chief Amos also reported that he saw FITZGERALD yelling at the defenseless dog “calm your shit” and “Ill choke you out”, “I don't give a shit” as well as “that's it bitch”.

The video was presented to the Seminole County District Attorney's Office as evidence.

On May 10, 2024, Chief Amos’ attempts to make contact with FITZGERALD were unsuccessful.

On July 1, 2024, one felony count of animal cruelty was filed against FITZGERALD. Seminole District Attorney Erik C. Johnson stated that FITZGERALD “unlawfully, willfully, knowingly, and wrongfully” injured a puppy “by punching, sitting on, and strangling the puppy”.

News 9 also published a portion of the video. Be aware it is graphic!

Needless to say, I have sent out emails to inquire about the Voiceless Victims’ wellbeing and if I get a response, I will  post an update.

As I was browsing FITZGERALD’s court records, I found a divorce case. What did you do to that woman FITZ? Did you strangle her too?
