~ Update: September 14, 2025

On September 2, 2025, JAIRUS AMIR MING-SCRADERS (pictured), was convicted of three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

On the same day, MING-SCRADERS was also found guilty of several more charges in two other cases, including terroristic threats, reckless conduct, and theft by receiving stolen property.

The Fulton County Police Department said in a Facebook post that MING-SCRADERS was “sentenced to the MAXIMUM of 10 years in prison.”

MING-SCRADERS had been arrested back in January 2025, on accusations of recording himself torturing a defenseless dog named Bella for more than three months. The abuse inflicted on Bella led to a fractured skull and several other broken bones. The injuries Bella sustained were so serious that she was left paralyzed and she was sadly euthanized.

The Fulton County Police Department arrested 23-year-old JAIRUS AMIR MING-SCRADERS (pictured), following a search warrant that its Animal Services Division and the SWAT Team executed at a residence on Country Drive in Atlanta.

According to the press release by the police, from an investigation it emerged that MING-SCRADERS “Convicted felon and gang member”, had been recording himself “torturing a dog over the course of the past three months.”

Police said that the last atrocious incident left the furvictim, named Bella, “paralyzed with a fractured skull and multiple other broken bones.” Sadly, due to the extent of the injuries sustained by Bella, she had to be euthanized.

According to the police, the residence was in deplorable condition with no running water, limited electricity, and floors covered in urine and feces. Moreover, authorities reported a severe roach and spider infestation.

Three additional dogs were found at the residence and were removed by Animal Services.

The Division of Family and Child Services was also called in as officials found two children living in the residence and the juveniles were subsequently removed.

MING-SCRADERS was taken into custody on two felony warrants for aggravated animal cruelty. Police said that at the time of his arrest, the savage was out on bond for multiple other felonies out of another jurisdiction.

On the scene authorities also arrested 18-year-old AMIRA GREGEANA WILKINS on unrelated felony charges.

Police said: “Animal cruelty is often committed in conjunction with domestic violence, gang activity, and other serious crimes like in this case. The mission of the Fulton County Police Department is to protect and serve our community which includes our animals.”

If it was possible to torture and abuse MING-SCRADERS until there was no more life inside of him, still, it would not be punishment enough for what he did to the poor dog!

On November 6, 2024, officers with the Memphis Police Department responded to a home in the 4000 block of Reenie Avenue in the Nutbush neighborhood after being alerted by a Memphis Animal Shelter Officer to neglected dogs.

Police made contact with 34-year-old DARYL LEE MUSIC (pictured). Inside his home, officers found two Huskies and two Rottweilers who all appeared to be emaciated.

One black Doberman was found in a caged area in the backyard of the home and according to the police he/she was extremely thin and had severe mange.

Sadly, officers also found a deceased small dog in a black trash bag inside a container.

Police said in a press release that “The dogs' living conditions were filthy, cluttered, and unlivable” and MAS Officers determined that they had to be removed.

MUSIC was placed under arrest and charged with six counts of aggravated animal cruelty.

In 2016, MUSIC was charged with having sexual activity with a dog and is under a court order, issued on June 13, 2023, not to possess, harbor, handle or control any animals inside Shelby County.

At the time of writing, online arrest records show that MUSIC is being held into the Shelby County Jail on a $7,500 bond.

I took the liberty of naming the deceased furvictim Comet, for the tribute image. Should his/her given name be made public, I will rectify it accordingly.

~ Update: November 7, 2024

I heard back from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office and the following are the answers to my questions:

Voice For Us: Were any animals found deceased?

Clermont County Sheriff’s Office: None were found deceased.

Voice For Us: Why did the defendant have so many animals?

Clermont County Sheriff’s Office: Johnson advised our detective that she was breeding cats. During the course of the investigation, our detective discovered that Johnson was also breeding dogs.

Voice For Us: Were any of the rescued animals euthanized?

Clermont County Sheriff’s Office: The dogs were the only animals removed from the residence by Animal Control. The cats remained at the scene and were to be cared for by extended family. None of the animals that were rescued/removed were euthanized.

~ Original story:

On October 30, 2024, the Clermont County Communications Center received a call reporting an animal complaint.

A deputy contacted the reporting party who stated that animals were living in poor conditions at a residence in the 1400 block of Homewood Court in Batavia Township. The caller provided the deputy with a video showing four dogs in cages and another dog believed to be deceased on the kitchen floor and further stated that there were nearly “40 cats in the basement and multiple dogs in cages throughout the home.”

The deputy then responded to the residence in question and contacted 40-year-old GRACE LOUISE JOHNSON (pictured).

According to the press release by the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, JOHNSON allowed the deputy into the residence and “admitted to owning the animals in question.”

The deputy found multiple dogs living in cages with feces and urine. The deputy reported that there were also urine and feces throughout the residence.

JOHNSON denied that any of her dogs had recently died and refused to allow further examination of the residence.

At that point, the Clermont County Sheriff's Office Investigative Unit was called in to assist with the investigation and detectives obtained and executed a search warrant.

The search led to the discovery of six dogs, twenty-eight cats, and five children. The sheriff’s office said that JOHNSON was not able to confirm the number of cats within the home.

Deputies reported finding the furvictims with “matted hair, fleas, and indications their paws had been soaked in urine and feces for an extended period.”

A Deputy Dog Warden from the Clermont County Animal Shelter responded and took possession of the dogs.

Clermont County Child Protective Services (CPS) took the children to be with JOHNSON’s relatives at a different location. Those same relatives are working with the Clermont County Animal Shelter to arrange for future long-term placement of the cats.

JOHNSON was arrested on site and transported to the Clermont County Jail on charges of endangering children.

On November 1, 2024, after consulting with the Clermont County Dog Warden and Clermont County Prosecutor's Office, JOHNSON was additionally charged with eight misdemeanor counts of prohibitions concerning companion animals.

At the time of writing, online arrest records show that JOHNSON is being held into the Clermont County Jail with a $15,000 cash or surety bond for the endangering children charges.

Local 12 reports that JOHNSON is a “local animal breeder.” According to the news outlet, the sheriff’s office said that JOHNSON told one of their detectives that she was breeding cats.

Although the sheriff’s office said there was no indication JOHNSON was also breeding dogs, her Facebook page and online advertisements showed otherwise.

In fact, JOHNSON’s Facebook page Graceful Pups, has previously posted puppies for sale.

JOHNSON’s Facebook account lists her as the owner of Graceful Pups.
