The Henry County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26-year-old DEVONE EDWARDS TOLBERT (pictured).

Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship said that on July 14, 2024, deputies were called to a home off of Highway 431 north of Abbeville. TOLBERT had been renting the home and had five dogs. After he left, the landowners went to the residence to clean it and discovered five deceased dogs in various stages of decomposition.

According to Sheriff Blankenship, deputies had already been at the same property in mid-June 2024, after receiving reports about the dogs being malnourished. Sadly, the dogs were not taken away and TOLBERT was simply told to take better care of his dogs.

TOLBERT was arrested on July 17, 2024, and charged with five felony counts of aggravated animal cruelty and bond was set at $75,000.

He was released from the Henry County Jail after posting $15,000 for each count.

Dogs do NOT get emaciated overnight. If they were found dead in July, they were already emaciated in June and should have been taken away then! So many scum are responsible for the PREVENTABLE death of these innocent souls!

The Etowah County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of two scum in connection with the shooting of a defenseless dog named Bullet.

One of the two is 19-year-old TRENTON DEWAYNE SUDBERRY (pictured) of Gadsden, and the other one is a juvenile, so his name was not disclosed.

In a press release, Etowah County Sheriff Jonathon Horton said that on the morning of Saturday, June 29, 2024, the Department was made aware of a video circulating on social media depicting the “cruel treatment of a dog.”

In the video, Bullet can be seen tied to a tree and running around it in circle and then getting shot.

The sheriff’s office launched an investigation and by late Saturday afternoon the suspects were identified and the weapon used to shoot Bullet was recovered.

The good news is that Bullet survived the shooting and as stated in the press release, “Bullet will be receiving a full examination, and seems to be in good spirits being back with his family and should make a good recovery.”

SUDBERRY was taken into custody on July 1, 2024, and charged with animal cruelty. He was transported to the Etowah County Detention Center and records show he was released a few hours later after posting $1,000 bond.

SUDBERRY’s case is currently set for a First Appearance Hearing on July 16, 2024, at 9:00 am before District Judge Joe Nabors.

The unnamed juvenile has been charged with animal cruelty in the juvenile court system.

In a statement, Sheriff Horton said: “It's unfortunate that animals are mistreated! Animals cannot speak up, so we have to make sure we do our best to take care of them and be their voice. Animal cases are just as important as any case we work.”

The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office arrested 20-years-old NATHANIEL SHANE BREWSTER (pictured), of Florence.

On Monday, April 8, 2024, the sheriff’s office became aware of a video circulating on social media showing animal cruelty toward a dog.

Investigators launched an investigation which led to the execution of a search warrant for a residence in Zip City.

BREWSTER was placed under arrest and charged with animal cruelty, second-degree possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana.

According to court documents, the incident took place sometime in November or December of 2023.

The Voiceless Victim was rescued and turned over to the Florence/Lauderdale Animal Shelter.

I emailed Animal Services and I was told that the furvictim is a male Husky named Roscoe. Roscoe is about 10 months old and initially, he was “scared to be approached but has warmed up quickly”. I also learned that Roscoe was BREWSTER’s.

I was kindly provided with a picture of the furbaby (below).

At time of writing, records show that BREWESTER was released from custody after posting a $1,500 bond.
