In a press release, the agency said that CLEMENTE, of Lake Ronkonkoma , was charged on September 26, 2023, following an investigation into an abandoned dog.

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard announced the arrest of 31-years-old JAMIE LAWRENCE GOULD (pictured).

In a news release, Sheriff Allard said that on August 11, 2023, deputies responded to a report about a male dragging a puppy.

After reaching out to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, I learned the following:

Mr. Gould had obtained the puppy the day of his arrest on 08/11/2023 from an unknown source. Shortly after obtaining the puppy, he was seen with the puppy in the Town of Bath. Several witnesses reported that Mr. Gould was dragging the puppy on a leash, which was wrapped around the puppy[‘s] neck with no collar. He was also seen by the witnesses tossing the puppy to the ground from waist level. His actions did injure the puppy.”

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office tells me that two members of the sheriff’s office quickly removed the puppy and immediately took the furbaby to a local vet. The puppy was found to be injured.

The email from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office stated that GOULD “willingly turned the puppy over and is currently in foster care.” I further learned that the Voiceless Victim is a male and has been renamed Sargent. It is believed that Sargent is between 6-8 weeks old. The good news is that Sargent has since fully recovered and is doing well.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office alleges that GOULD, of State Route 415, Bath, New York, “unlawfully possessed a controlled substance.”

GOULD was arrested and charged with Torturing or Injuring an Animal and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.

He was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and released.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office tells me that at this time the investigation is still pending, so no additional information can be released.

The Ontario County Humane Society announced that 49-years-old URANIA WARONA and 61-years-old ANTHONY J. DEMARCO, both of Geneva, were charged with animal cruelty.

In a news release, the agency said that on August 13, 2023, they were alerted to an emaciated dog who had been seen in the backyard of a residence on 58 Wadsworth Street in Geneva.

According to the animal cruelty complaint, the dog was “crying and whining.” The complaint further reported that DEMARCO “was yelling at the dog and then kicked her several times so she would stop.”

The Ontario County Humane Society identified the Voiceless Victim as a 12-year-old black and gray mixed breed named Nina.

Nina was removed and examined by a vet. The vet diagnosed her with advanced cancer.

Additionally, the vet reported that Nina had flea infestation, that caused her to lose her fur, as well as “several untreated sores and growths”, stated the release.

Nina was sadly euthanized.

According to the Ontario County Humane Society, WARONA, Nina’s guardian, “has known about Nina’s condition for several months but has failed to provide her with medical treatment nor has she sought the assistance from a veterinarian or other agency.”

WARONA and DEMARCO were charged with animal cruelty and issued an appearance ticket for Geneva City Court. The court date has not been disclosed.

I find myself writing this devastating story two days after I lost a precious member of my family; my daughter’s boyfriend’s dog had to be put down and I am heartbroken.

WARONA and DEMARCO did not deserve to be gifted with a beautiful dog like Nina!

As I visualize Nina, emaciated, sick, alone, frightened, defenseless, and helpless, while she is getting abused, my hatred for WARONA and DEMARCO makes me wish them a slow and painful death!
