Ontario County authorities arrested 36-years-old DANIELLE C. AMBROS.

On January 13, 2024, while the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office was investigating AMBROS’ involvement in an unrelated incident, Ontario County Humane Society, Happy Tails Animal Shelter became involved to assist with an animal cruelty investigation that implicated AMBROS.

It came to light that while AMBROS’ grandmother was hospitalized, AMBROS was supposed to care for her grandmother’s parrot and dog at the lady’s residence on 5546 Mobile Road in Canandaigua.

In a media release, Ontario County Humane Society, Happy Tails Animal Shelter identified the dog as a 17-year-old Jack  Russell dog named Sampson, and the parrot as Squirt whose age is unknown.

The agency said that at some point, in November 2023, AMBROS stopped caring for Sampson and Squirt and both Voiceless Victims died on December 19, 2023. According to the media release, “both the dog and the parrot were deceased inside the residence in a decomposing state and they both appeared to have starved to death.”

Sampson and Squirt were buried in the backyard of the residence. Authorities exhumed them and took their bodies to the Cornell Animal Diagnostic Lab for necropsies.

AMBROS, of Rochester, was arrested on February 2, 2024, and charged with misdemeanor cruelty to an animal and misdemeanor failure to provide food and water to an impounded animal.

AMBROS was released on a ticket to appear at Canandaigua Town Court at a later date.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office tells me there isn’t a booking photograph for AMBROS because she “was issued an appearance ticket and directed to get processed at the Jail on her own.”

On Monday, December 4, 2023, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested 36-years-old ALICIA A. WRIGHT (pictured via Facebook), 37-years-old CORY JOHN DISANTO (pictured via Facebook), 54-years-old AMY E. WALKER, and her husband 60-years-old ROBERT M. WALKER.

The sheriff’s office along with the Ontario County Humane Society launched an investigation on November 24, 2023, after receiving a complaint about a property on 1074 Cress Road in Phelps.

The investigation led to the discovery of a deceased dog behind the property.

The sheriff's office said the dog, a 3-year-old Dogo Argentino named Covid, was found wrapped in a blanket several yards from a makeshift kennel, in a wooded area.

The Voiceless Victim was taken to the Cornell University Animal Health Diagnostic Center, where a necropsy was performed. Results showed that the furvictim died from starvation.

The sheriff’s office said all four individuals were aware of the furbaby’s situation even if DISANTO moved out before the investigation began. All four were charged with a felony count of aggravated cruelty to an animal.

Five other dogs were found inside the property and removed. Veterinary staff at the Ontario County Humane Society examined them and found them to be healthy.

DISANTO was taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment, while the others were issued an appearance ticket to appear in Phelps Town Court at a later date.

The Ontario County Humane Society announced that 49-years-old URANIA WARONA and 61-years-old ANTHONY J. DEMARCO, both of Geneva, were charged with animal cruelty.

In a news release, the agency said that on August 13, 2023, they were alerted to an emaciated dog who had been seen in the backyard of a residence on 58 Wadsworth Street in Geneva.

According to the animal cruelty complaint, the dog was “crying and whining.” The complaint further reported that DEMARCO “was yelling at the dog and then kicked her several times so she would stop.”

The Ontario County Humane Society identified the Voiceless Victim as a 12-year-old black and gray mixed breed named Nina.

Nina was removed and examined by a vet. The vet diagnosed her with advanced cancer.

Additionally, the vet reported that Nina had flea infestation, that caused her to lose her fur, as well as “several untreated sores and growths”, stated the release.

Nina was sadly euthanized.

According to the Ontario County Humane Society, WARONA, Nina’s guardian, “has known about Nina’s condition for several months but has failed to provide her with medical treatment nor has she sought the assistance from a veterinarian or other agency.”

WARONA and DEMARCO were charged with animal cruelty and issued an appearance ticket for Geneva City Court. The court date has not been disclosed.

I find myself writing this devastating story two days after I lost a precious member of my family; my daughter’s boyfriend’s dog had to be put down and I am heartbroken.

WARONA and DEMARCO did not deserve to be gifted with a beautiful dog like Nina!

As I visualize Nina, emaciated, sick, alone, frightened, defenseless, and helpless, while she is getting abused, my hatred for WARONA and DEMARCO makes me wish them a slow and painful death!
