On Wednesday night, March 25, the Emergency Response Team with the San Diego Humane Society was called out to Guatay to assist with the rescue of a horse.

The poor horse named Tucson had been stuck for two hours in a deep, muddy hole.

The Emergency Response Team used rope rescue techniques to free Tucson and as soon as he was out of the hole he was treated for minor injuries and dehydration, as reported by the San Diego Humane Society.

The organization wrote in their Facebook post that Tucson is expected to make a full recovery.

Thank you all for saving this precious life!

Animal news isn’t limited to animal cruelty.

There are also pawsitive stories that need to be shared so the world knows there are good people like 49-year-old Dr. Kwane Stewart (pictured below), also known as “The Street Vet.”

In 2007 during the Great Recession a large number of animals were surrendered to his veterinary clinic.

Some of the people who lost their homes took their furbabies to shelters instead of abandoning them in the streets.

Dr. Stewart was devastated by it.

CNN reports: “So one day in 2011, "on a whim," Stewart set up a table at a soup kitchen with his son and girlfriend. Anytime he spotted someone with an animal, he called them over and offered to give their pet a checkup.”

Dr. Stewart said: "Before I knew it, I had a whole line.” "There was something about it that I loved. I did it one more time before I decided to just take it to the street and walk to homeless people instead of waiting for them to walk up to me."

Wherever he goes, Dr. Stewart drives prepared and well equipped with his bag full of medicines, food, and treats for the homeless paws.

He said that some of the common illnesses he treats are allergies, skin and ear infections, flea infestations, bad teeth, and even arthritis.

Dr. Stewart pays out of his own pocket for food and medications, however, when he comes across cases that need extensive medical care like surgeries, he uses his GoFundMe to cover the costs.

So far, Dr. Stewart has treated about 400 animals as The Street Vet.

When he is not on the streets treating animals, he documents his stories through a Netflix TV series "Dr. Kwane: The Street Vet," which airs internationally in over 30 countries.

Dr. Stewart words cannot describe my gratitude. I salute you!

On Wednesday, February 19, Mr. Tom Breen, a member of staff of a meat plant, called Memphis Animal Services (MAS) about a dog stuck in a meat grinder.

In less than half an hour, Officer Hunley and Officer Sutter responded to the scene near East Brooks Road and South Third Street.

They found a dog trapped 12 feet down in a processing pit, that had narrow walls with very little space for them to operate.

All Officer Amanda Sutter could see was the pup’s face and back legs.

She did not hesitate for a moment and dropped a ladder that she bravely climbed all the way down into the slimy, slippery, greasy, and dark pit.

She attached two 6-foot control poles together and then around the dog’s neck.

With one hand on the ladder and one hand on the poles, Officer Sutter pulled him part of the way out of the pit, just enough for Officer Hunley to pull the rest of the way.

The furbaby was so drained of energy that he could not help during the rescue.

Once out of the meat pit, the frightened and traumatized dog was covered in towels and was safely put into the MAS truck.

He is now resting and well taken care of by MAS staff who named him McGregor.

Officer Sutter said: "We decided to name him McGregor after one of the most famous fighters we could think of at the time because he's a fighter, and he deserves an honorable name."

It’s unclear how long McGregor was in the pit before being spotted by Mr. Breen, but he was visibly exhausted indicating that he must have tried to pull himself out of there for a long time, and it was a real miracle that the machine was not on.

Many thanks Mr. Breen for calling MAS!

Many thanks Officers Sutter and Hunley for saving this precious life!
