ZACHARY NICHOLAS MILLER arrested after decaying, dead animals were found on his property

- Tennessee, USA -

Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton announced the arrest of 24-year-old ZACHARY NICHOLAS MILLER (pictured).

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, deputies responded to a property in the 400 block of Cash Hollow Road. According to a news release from the WCSO, upon arrival, deputies smelled decaying animals near a barn on the property. Sadly, they discovered ten dead chickens, a dead pig, and two dead rabbits.

An agent for the Department of Agriculture responded to the scene as well and determined the two rabbits found deceased were domestic rabbits.

According to Sheriff Sexton, MILLER stated that a raccoon killed the ten dead chickens.

A dog was found chained outside the barn without access to clean water. As per the release, “The bucket of water Miller indicated was the dog’s water source was filled with algae and worms.”

MILLER surrendered the dog to Animal Control.

MILLER was placed under arrest and charged with four counts of animal cruelty. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center and released after posting a $5,000 bond.

According to the sheriff’s office, additional charges from the Department of Agriculture are pending due to MILLER not disposing of dead livestock.
