Wake me up when I am “really” needed – K9 snoozes during his whole swearing-in ceremony

- Rhode Island, USA -

Monday, April 6, important day for Bristol Police Department and K9 Brody.

The 12-week-old full-bred Chocolate English Labrador Retriever napped on the chief’s desk while he was being sworn in as the town’s new comfort dog.

School Resource Officer, Keith Medeiros took the Oath of Office on his behalf.

Officer Brody was given to the Department from Boonefield Labradors, a breeder from Southern New Hampshire, and his name has a special meaning for the Department.

The “B” stands for Bristol, and the “Rody” stands for Rhode Island.

Bristol Police Chief, Kevin Lynch wanted to add a K-9 to the Department as the town’s new chief, and Officer Brody will be involved in the town’s school activities.

ABC6 reports that Chief Lynch said: “When I finished my interview for the town of Bristol, I told them that I planned on making a difference in this community, and this (Brody) is a very good example of making a difference for the town of Bristol.”

The Department plans on utilizing Officer Brody to reduce anxiety and assist communication between witnesses and investigators.

While in the school system, Officer Brody will help bridge the gap between school resource officers and the students while also reducing stress and assist in counseling and education sessions.

According to Chief Lynch, Officer Brody is “going to be the highlight, and a superstar of the town of Bristol”, just as soon as he wakes up.
