The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office announced that on September 12, 2024, TYSON JAVELLE HOLLOWAY (pictured), has pleaded guilty and was convicted of one charge of animal cruelty.
According to a release by the sheriff’s office, on November 29, 2023, Corporal Ecklund and Deputy Draper with the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office Animal Crimes Unit were dispatched to a residence on 141 Cragmont Road in Black Mountain where they found the “decomposing remains of two Caine Corsos, who appeared to have been abandoned and starved to death.”
The officers learned from the property owners that HOLLOWAY, a.k.a. T.J., was the dogs’ guardian.
The remains of the two Voiceless Victims were taken to the North Carolina Veterinary Diagnostic Lab for necropsy testing. Results confirmed the cause of death as starvation.
The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office charged HOLLOWAY with two counts of Animal Cruelty, two counts of Abandonment, and two counts of Failure to Dispose of Animal Remains.
On September 12, 2024, HOLLOWAY has pleaded guilty and was convicted of one charge of animal cruelty. He was gifted with one-year supervised probation. He was ordered to not “own” any animals during his probation.
In a statement Major John Ledford said: “The Buncombe County Animal Crimes Unit comprises specially trained, dedicated professionals. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office takes all complaints of animal cruelty seriously and works tirelessly to identify, investigate, and criminally charge anyone responsible for these heinous acts. We appreciate the willingness of the public to notify the appropriate authorities and provide information crucial to these investigations.”
I have no reason to doubt that a lot of law enforcement agencies take animal cruelty seriously, the problem is that too many judges still don’t!
