The Humane Society of Preble County reports that 33-year-old TYLER S. MCINTOSH (pictured), of Camden, has been convicted of felony cruelty to animals.
The agency said that this animal cruelty case involving an innocent dog has been going on “behind-the-scenes” since the furvictim, a female Boxer mix named Delilah, was brought to them back on July 6, 2025.
As explained by the Humane Society of Preble County in a Facebook post, when Delilah arrived at their facility in July, she was emaciated and had been victim “of a cruel starvation plan.” Delilah weighed 34 lbs., half of what a dog her age and size should weigh.
According to the agency, every bone in Delilah’s body was visible and “hundreds of fleas crawled all over her body, literally sucking the life out of her, adding to her misery.”
The Humane Society of Preble County stated that after months of “maneuvering through the legal system” it is now a matter of public record that MCINTOSH was her guardian.
MCINTOSH is a former volunteer firefighter for the Camden Somers-Township Fire and EMS in Preble County.
In their Facebook post, the Humane Society of Preble County said that MCINTOSH, someone who was "trained to respond to the needs of others, and someone who knew and understood the consequences of his deliberate cruelty to his dog," will spend the next 60 days in jail.
MCINTOSH was indicted in September 2025 and in November he pleaded guilty to one count of cruelty to companion animals. As a result of this plea deal, two other counts were dismissed.
After his sentencing hearing on January 14, 2026, MCINTOSH was arrested and records show he remains booked in the Preble County Jail.
As for Delilah, she thankfully recovered and was adopted a few weeks after being put up for adoption.
