TYLER RONALD HILL arrested after witnesses reported he punched, kicked, and threw his small dog
- Florida, USA -
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrested 31-year-old TYLER RONALD HILL (pictured).
HILL’s arrest is the result of an investigation into complaints about possible abuse involving a dog named Ozzy at an apartment on Park Avenue in Lake Park.
According to an affidavit, on May 1, 2026, one of HILL’s neighbors, whom I will refer to as MF, reported to the sheriff’s office that HILL “was trying to kill his little dog.”
MF reported that he heard Ozzy yelping and screaming and saw HILL picking Ozzy up by the neck. When MF confronted HILL about what he had witnessed, MF said that HILL “became verbally aggressive towards him,” according to the affidavit.
On May 6, 2026, investigator Kovacs realized that no action had been taken following the animal abuse report, so she went to Park Lane and met with MF. MF recounted what he had witnessed and reported to the sheriff’s office, prompting Kovacs to attempt to make contact with HILL.
According to the affidavit, HILL was not home, but Kovacs could hear the dog barking inside, so she left her business card.
On July 31, 2026, HILL’s roommate, whom I will refer to as XF, provided a recorded statement under oath detailing the abuse he had witnessed.
The affidavit states that XF said HILL “frequently struck Ozzy for urinating or defecating inside the residence.” According to XF, HILL would grab Ozzy, put his nose into the feces, and slap him.
XF also stated that he witnessed HILL kick, punch, repeatedly strike Ozzy, and throw him across the room with enough force that Ozzy struck a wall.
XF further stated that HILL left Ozzy “confined inside a cage for extended periods” and recalled one particularly disturbing incident that ultimately caused him significant concern for Ozzy’s welfare.
According to XF, Ozzy had been put inside his cage after HILL had severely beaten him. When XF opened the cage, Ozzy failed to exit as he normally would. Instead, he remained in approximately the same position for two to three hours and appeared extremely weak and lethargic. When XF opened the cage again later, Ozzy appeared close to losing consciousness.
According to the affidavit, during his recorded statement, XF described HILL’s physical punishment as excessive and stated that the mistreatment escalated over time. He went on to explain that the abuse occurred frequently, at times almost daily, and appeared to worsen when HILL consumed alcohol.
XF said that the final incident he witnessed caused him significant concern for Ozzy’s welfare, prompting him to contact a friend’s mother, Ms. SB.
On June 9, 2026, Ms. SB took Ozzy to MedVet Jupiter for emergency veterinary care. Veterinary staff documented that Ozzy had rapid breathing, rib pain, and lameness in his left hind leg. X-rays revealed two acute rib fractures.
When HILL was informed of Ozzy’s injuries, he relinquished ownership of Ozzy to Ms. SB, who subsequently contacted investigator Kovacs and reported the abuse inflicted upon Ozzy and the injuries he had suffered as a result.
On October 13, 2026, Dr. Sara Chapman of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control reviewed Ozzy’s veterinary records and determined that his two rib fractures were consistent with blunt-force trauma and likely resulted from two separate impacts to the right side of his chest. Dr. Chapman noted that the fractures displayed sharp margins without evidence of healing and likely occurred less than ten days before the X-rays were taken on June 9, 2026.
Dr. Chapman further determined that Ozzy’s rapid breathing, lameness, and painful response to chest palpation were consistent with pain and suffering associated with blunt-force trauma.
Based on the facts gathered during the investigation, XF’s sworn statement, and Dr. Chapman’s assessment, investigator Kovacs determined that probable cause existed to charge HILL with felony aggravated animal cruelty (excessive pain/death).
HILL was taken into custody on October 28, 2026, and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. At the time of writing, online arrest records indicate that HILL remains in custody on a $15,000 bond. Court records show that HILL is scheduled to appear in Palm Beach County Circuit Court on November 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.
