- North Carolina, USA -

The Havelock Police Department announced the arrest of 19-year-old Lance Corporal TAYLOR MICHAEL HEINRICH (pictured), a U.S. Marine of Havelock, and 19-year-old JASMINE VERONICA THOMPSON.

According to the press release by Havelock Police, on October 2, 2025, officers along with Havelock Animal Control responded to a report of animal cruelty in the Slocum Village community.

Following an investigation, officers determined that HEINRICH “physically assaulted and fatally injured” his 8-month-old Labrador retriever mix, named Delilah, using a cross bow.

Warrants accuse HEINRICH of killing Delilah by hitting her until unconscious with his fist before discharging a crossbow into her body.

HEINRICH then proceeded to transport Delilah’s lifeless body more than 20 miles and disposed of her in a wooded area of the Croatan National Forest.

According to Havelock Police, THOMPSON was also implicated for her role in Delilah’s disposal.

HEINRICH was charged with one felony count of animal cruelty and was issued a $5,000 secured bond while THOMPSON was charged with one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty and was issued a $1,000 unsecured bond.

Court records show the pair, of Rose Lane, are scheduled to appear back in Craven County District Court on December 3, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
