Following a six-month-long investigation into animal abuse and suspected cockfighting, on February 25, 2026, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a farm in the 3000 block of Stony Point Road.
The sheriff's office was assisted by detectives from the Property Crimes, Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Investigations units, patrol deputies, officers from Sonoma County Animal Services, and code enforcement officers.
A video that the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office shared on its Facebook page showed
numerous cages and roosters of the property. A total of 833 roosters were removed from the property. Sgt. Valencia with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office tells me that: “All 833 birds were euthanized by animal control. The roosters were aggressive.”
The search additionally led to the discovery and confiscation of slashers (blades attached to the roosters’ legs to wound or kill their opponents during fights), veterinary medication and conditioning supplements, identification bands, betting slips, firearms, timers, small-denomination currency, and other evidence “consistent with bird fighting.”
Deputies arrested 30-year-old SAUL NOE VILLALOBOS-DELACRUZ, of Santa Rosa. He was booked on animal cruelty felonies and later released on pre-trial supervision.
