SAMANTHA LYNN KOSS, pet sitter, arrested on accusations of kicking a dog in her care several times and striking him repeatedly in the face

- Michigan, USA -

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, 28-year-old SAMANTHA LYNN KOSS (pictured), was arraigned in the 37th District Court in Warren before Judge Michael Chupa on two misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.

The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Warren Police Department after officers responded to an animal complaint on May 10, 2026, in the area of 14 Mile and Mound.

Officers learned that KOSS had been paid to sit for a 6-year-old male Pitbull named Frankie.

According to the press release by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office provided to Voice For Us, it is alleged that at one point Frankie accidently escaped from his family home and KOSS “.. attempted to get the dog back inside by kicking it several times and striking it repeatedly in the face.”

The incident was filmed by a witness on a phone.

Frankie’s mom, Ms. Bobbie Brody, said in a Facebook post: “Identifying the ideal caregiver for your pets while you're away can be a daunting task. I believed I had found a superb sitter for my Frankie through a reputable pet-sitting service. However, a disturbing truth came to light this weekend, revealing I was tragically misinformed.

Ms. Brody had found KOSS on Rover.com. She had good reviews, and Ms. Brody had used her other times in the past. Ms. Brody came back from her trip after receiving the video from a friend.

Frankie did not sustain permanent injuries but Ms. Brody said on her Facebook profile that she will continue to share Frankie’s story across her social media platforms to ensure justice is served for him and to demonstrate the family’s commitment to taking action.

Judge Chupa granted KOSS a $5,000 personal bond and she was ordered to not have contact with animals that may be considered pets.

KOSS’ pretrial conference before judge Chupa has been scheduled for June 23, 2026.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said in a written statement: “Animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Macomb County. The alleged conduct in this case is disturbing, and my office is committed to holding offenders accountable when animals are abused or neglected. We will aggressively prosecute acts of cruelty and continue working to protect those who cannot protect themselves.”
