Reward offered for information after two dogs were dumped in a pond and left for dead in Genesee County

- Michigan, USA -

Crime Stoppers of Flint & Genesee County reported that on October 28, 2025, two German Shepherds were abandoned and left for dead in southeast Flint.

The furvictims, a female named Star and a male named Ringo, were locked in a black wire crate and then dumped in a pond near the golf course in Thread Lake off Lakewood Drive.

Although Ringo and Star managed to escape the cage, Ringo got stuck in the mud and remained for hours while Star went to look for help.

Star chased after a pickup truck while barking to get attention and she amazingly led rescuers back to Ringo.

As stated by Crime Stoppers of Flint & Genesee County, Ringo and Star were “emaciated and weak at the time of rescue”.

Both furvictims were brought to Genesee County Animal Control, and the agency said in a Facebook post that Ringo was unable to walk, the “cold wet pond zapped all his energy”, he had multiple perforations in the abdomen, was in sepsis, and sadly died.

Star underwent emergency surgery to remove foreign bones from her stomach and is doing well.

Crime Stoppers of Flint & Genesee County is offering a $1,000 reward for information regarding this heartbreaking case.
