RECARDA VASHONE HART, registered sex offender, arrested after several Pitbull dogs and puppies were found in a severe state of malnutrition

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office arrested 43-year-old RECARDA VASHONE HART (pictured), a registered sex offender.

On October 28, 2025, while conducting a sex offender verification residency status check on 14359 U.S. Highway 319 N, deputies found five Pitbull dogs and puppies in “a severe state of malnutrition,” said the sheriff’s office.

According to the office’s release, the furvictims were outside the home in a metal kennel.

Moreover, deputies learned that “another puppy, within that litter, had died and had been eaten on by the rest of the dogs/puppies within the kennel.”

The following day, deputies arrested HART and charged him with multiple counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

Thomas County Animal Services removed all the furvictims from the home and are now caring for them.
