RAYMOND CHARLES JACKSON III arrested for intentionally leaving a dog in a closet resulting in her death

The Greenville Police Department arrested 23-year-old RAYMOND CHARLES JACKSON III (pictured).
Police tell me that on July 31, 2025, they were contacted by the property management of an apartment complex in Greenville.
Officers learned that as cleaning crews were preparing units for the new rental season, they found the remains of a dog in a closet.
Police identified the furvictim as a “tan colored, medium sized, mixed breed” named Queen. Her age is not known.
From the investigation it emerged that JACKSON was the previous tenant of the apartment where Queen’s remains were discovered.
A warrant was issued for JACKSON’s arrest accusing him of intentionally leaving Queen in the closet resulting in her death.
JACKSON was located the following day and placed under arrest. He was charged with cruelty to animals, and abandonment of an animal. He was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond, which according to court records, he posted on August 7, 2025.
JACKSON’s disposition hearing is set to take place on August 20, 2025, at 9:00 a.m..
