The Louisville Metro Police Department is still investigating after a dog was found abandoned on April 28, 2026, at Iroquois Park near the golf course.
The furvictim, a female Husky named Sammie, was found discovered inside a black garbage bag with twine wrapped around her muzzle.
According to police, a golf course worker heard Sammie’s cries and alerted the authorities.
Louisville Metro Animal Services scanned Sammie's microchip and tracked down her guardians, who said Sammie escaped their yard during a thunderstorm the night before she was found.
Sadly, Sammie’s injuries were so severe that she had to be euthanized.
PETA has now announced that they are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction on animal cruelty charges.
Combined with a $10,000 reward offered by Hagan Properties, the total reward for information is now $15,000.
Louisville Metro Police said: “This level of cruelty is deeply disturbing, and we are committed to finding those responsible and seeking justice for Sammie.”
According to police, investigators are actively reviewing leads but they also need our help.
If you have any information that can assist the Animal Cruelty Unit, please come forward and speak up for Sammie. You can submit your tips by using the anonymous crime tip hotline at (502) - 574 – LMPD or online. Thank you!
