The Largo Police Department arrested 42-year-old MARY ANNE HALAHUNI GAMBLE and 43-year-old FRED HENRY GAMBLE (both pictured).
Police said that on December 19, 2025, they were notified that eleven (11) dogs had been abandoned at Taylor Park.
Staff at Taylor Park reported finding nine (9) Shiba Inu puppies in a storage container and two adult female dogs roaming the park.
Police reached out to Pawlicious Poochie Pet Rescue for assistance and according to the rescue’s Facebook posts, all of the furvictims were taken to Skyway Animal Hospital in St. Petersburg.
All of the poor souls were sick and had Parvo. Three puppies, Comet, Donner, and Prancer, were in critical condition.
Another puppy, a purebred Shiba Inu whom PPPR named Frosty, was rescued two days later and PPPR explained in one of their posts that he “arrived 48 hours after the other 9 and 2 moms arrived.” Part of the post read: “... he’s the worst off because he lost that time from treatment. Dr.C also noticed he can’t stand on his one back leg so x-rays will be done today to see if broken. He arrived lateral and has been lateral majority of time until today where we could see there is an issues with his back leg.”
Through subsequent updates, PPPR advised that Frosty had a severely broken back leg and that he was too weak and too critical to endure surgery.
On December 31, 2025, PPPR shared the heartbreaking news that Frosty had passed away!
As stated in their Facebook post, “Necropsy revealed a huge hole in small intestines and several other “weak” spots in small intestines pointing to trauma which aligns with the clean snap break of his back leg and his dislocated jaw. He died from the physical trauma he suffered before he arrived at rescue. All of this has been well documented and provided to Largo PD for their ongoing investigation. Now the hunt to find who hurt Frosty and dumped his 9 siblings and 2 mommas all with parvo is on. THERE IS NOW A $5000 REWARD LEADING TO ARREST OF FROSTY AND 11 DOGS DUMPED IN TAYLOR PARK ON DECEMBER 19th!”
The scum who were arrested in connection with this case on January 2, 2026, are now facing twelve felony counts of animal cruelty.
During the arrests, inside the couple’s home police discovered four additional adult male dogs who were sick and infested with fleas. Officers described the living conditions as deplorable. According to police, the property did not have electricity or running water and was contaminated with urine and feces.
Investigators say the couple were illegally breeding the dogs and were aware that some of the litter of the puppies were sick and died after being sold.
Police also believe there are other dogs buried in the couple’s backyard.
The four dogs were taken to Pawlicious Poochie Pet Rescue as reported by the rescue.
At the time of writing, records show the couple are behind bars at the Pinellas County Jail.
