MANUEL SALAZAR JR. arrested after his dog was found in extremely poor physical condition

- Texas, USA -

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year-old MANUEL SALAZAR JR. (pictured).

On the morning of Monday, May 25, 2026, deputies responded to the 13300 block of Estancia de Misiones in San Elizario to assist the Animal Welfare Unit with an investigation.

On arrival, deputies found a medium-sized, mixed-breed Pitbull in “extremely poor physical condition,” said the sheriff’s office. According to deputies, the furvictim appeared “severely malnourished, with visible ribs, spine, and hip bones.”

The sheriff’s office stressed that the poor dog was significantly underweight, lethargic, and had difficulty moving without assistance.

I emailed the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to inquire about the furvictim’s well-being but I was told that as the investigation is ongoing, no additional information can be released at this time.

Deputies arrested SALAZAR, the dog’s guardian, and charged him with cruelty to non-livestock animals. SALAZAR was then transported to the El Paso County Detention Facility and bond was set at $2,000. SALAZAR was released on May 27, 2026, after posting bond.
