MACKENZIE N. CLARKE and ISAIAH L. DISHAW abandoned a dog on the side of the road who later died

Updated: Jun 12, 2023

- New York, USA -

On the morning of Thursday, June 1, 2023, the Ontario County Humane Society along with the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, responded to Stryker Road in the Town of Phelps, after receiving a report of a deceased dog wrapped in a blanket and lying on the side of the road.

Officers found the dog, a 1-year-old male Pitbull, to still be alive but he was in an “emaciated and critical condition”, said the Ontario County Humane Society in an initial press release. The furbaby was wearing a blue collar.

The agency then reached out to the community for information.

On June 3, 2023, the Ontario County Humane Society advised that “the dog had succumbed to his condition.” According to the organization, “the dog failed to respond to any treatments.”

Tips from the community helped the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office to arrest the monsters who let this precious soul die.

On June 6, 2023, deputies arrested 21-years-old MACKENZIE N. CLARKE, the dog’s guardian, and her boyfriend, 19-years-old ISAIAH L. DISHAW.

CLARKE told investigators that on June 1, 2023, she tried to take her dog, named Ash, to Ontario County Humane Society after he got sick the night before. CLARKE claimed that since the organization was closed and she did not want to take Ash back home, she abandoned him on the side of the road.

CARKE then called 911 to report that someone had left a dog on Stryker Road.

CLARKE and DISHAW were charged with aggravated cruelty to an animal and animal abandonment. Additionally, CLARKE was charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree.

I have requested CLARKE and DISHAW’s mugshots but Mr. William Martin, Director of the Ontario County Humane Society explained in an email that “without being processed we don’t have any booking photos yet-They are scheduled to be in Phelps Court on 6/28/23 so they may be processed after that.”

CLARKE and DISHAW, dogs do NOT get emaciated overnight. Both of you deprived Ash of medical care and as far as I am concerned, that is aiding and abetting in his death!

I hope that the judge who will preside over this case sees that and slams the cell door on your behinds!
