The LaGrange Police Department is investigating an animal cruelty case that took place at a home on 701 N. Harlem Circle in LaGrange.
Police said in their press release that one suspect connected to the investigation has already been taken into custody while a second suspect, MONTEL JERIMIAH HADLEY (pictured), has outstanding arrest warrants for cruelty to animals stemming from the same incident.
Police have not disclosed the specifics of the case. At this time it’s unknown what types of animals are involved, how many there are, or what condition they are in.
I reached out to the LaGrange Police Department and its spokesperson, Detective John Hutcheson said in different emails that “the animals were being neglected and malnourished” and, “The animals are currently being housed at the shelter here locally.”
Online arrest records maintained by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office show that the suspect who is already in police custody, 35-year-old LAMETRIUS CARTEZ MOSS, was arrested on the evening of Thursday, August 6, 2026, and booked on nine misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty. Records show that MOSS is still behind bars.
MONTEL JERIMIAH HADLEY remains at large and police are asking anyone who knows his whereabouts or has information regarding this case to contact Officer Chris Bussey at 706-883-3606. Alternatively, individuals who wish to remain anonymous can submit tips through the Tip411 system. This can be done via the mobile application, through the online portal, or by texting the keyword LAGRANGE to 847411.
