On the morning of Saturday, October 4, 2025, the St. Albans Police Department responded to a home on Barlow Street in St. Albans after receiving a report about a dog who had been intentionally poisoned.
The furvictim is a handsome 4-year-old Lab mix named Hank.
Hank’s human mom, Ms. Erin Langevi, recounted the shocking facts through a Facebook post and said: “This morning, at approximately 7:30 AM, while letting our dog Hank out to play in our fenced backyard, we made a horrifying discovery. Hank was eating what appeared to be large balls of fresh ground beef containing small green pellets of rat poison.
We immediately induced vomiting and rushed Hank to the vet for emergency treatment. While searching our yard, we found two additional 'bait' balls. Because our yard is fully enclosed, it is highly unlikely that these were brought in by another animal. This leads us to believe they were intentionally placed in our yard.”
An update published by Ms. Langevi on October 5, 2025, advised that Hank is back home. He is resting “surrounded by love and care.” She further said: “Hank’s follow-up bloodwork came back great today! He will continue to be monitored over the next couple of days to ensure everything remains stable.”
St. Albans Police said they are actively investigating this incident.
Ms. Langevi explained that although they do have security cameras, unfortunately nothing was captured from the front of their home. She further said that since the incident, they have installed additional cameras in the backyard.
As Ms. Langevi pointed out, they are sharing Hank’s story not only for their “personal pain,“ but to warn their neighbors.
If you have any information that can help the investigation, please come forward and contact St. Albans Police at (802) - 524 - 2166. Thank you!
