The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is reaching out to the public for assistance with the suspicious death of a horse.
On the morning of Friday, June 6, 2025, deputies responded to the 2100 block of Goeth Road near South Flores Road in Far South Bexar County after a caller reported finding a deceased white horse near the front entry of the property.
The sheriff’s Office said the rear legs of the horse “had been bound together with a yellow tow strap, which was also attached to a support post of the entry gate.”
Deputies along with the sheriff’s office Crime Scene Unit canvassed the area in search of surveillance or witnesses, but their attempts turned out to be unsuccessful.
On the afternoon of the same day, the horse was examined by veterinarians at the Animal Crossing Vet Hospital. Preliminary findings revealed that the horse did not die at the scene.
It is believed that the poor soul was dumped at Goeth Road and the gate post was used to help offload his/her lifeless body.
The sheriff’s office along with ACE (Animal Crimes Enforcement) are actively working to identify the horse’s guardian or those responsible for this despicable incident. If you have any information regarding this case, please come forward and speak up for the innocent victim. Call the Bexar Sheriff’s Office at (210) - 335 - 6000 or email your information. Thank you!
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said, “The connection between cruelty to animals and even more heinous crimes against humans has been well documented. This is the main reason we created the ACE (Animal Crimes Enforcement) Team. We appreciate any and all help the public can give us in identifying those responsible for this horrible crime.”
I took the liberty of naming the Voiceless Victim Snowball for the tribute image. Should his/her given name be made public, I will rectify it accordingly.
