COURTNEE SOLVIA EDWARDS arrested – Fourteen neglected dogs, eight dead dogs, and evidence of dogfighting activity found at a Pitt County home

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 49-year-old COURTNEE SOLVIA EDWARDS (pictured).


Pitt County Animal Control received a tip regarding the welfare of dogs at a property on 3677 Cecilia Hart Lane in Farmville.

Following the tip, on February 8, 2026, Animal Control alerted the sheriff’s office.


Deputies immediately responded to the location and on arrival they “observed numerous dogs on this secluded road that were believed to have been starved”, said the sheriff’s office in its press release.


After obtaining a search warrant, deputies along with Animal Control searched the property in question and discovered twenty-two dogs. Sadly, eight of them were deceased.


According to the press release, the fourteen living dogs appeared to be “in very poor health.”

Officers believe the furvictims had been neglected and were removed from the property.


The search additionally led to the discovery of evidence of dogfighting activity.


EDWARDS was placed under arrest and charged with eight counts of killing an animal by starvation, thirteen felony counts of cruelty to animals, twenty-three counts of dogfighting activity, and felony conspiracy. The sheriff’s office said further charges are pending as the case remains under active investigation.


At the time of writing, records show EDWARDS is being held into the Pitt County Jail on a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear at Pitt County District Court on February 25, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
