The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 35-year-old CHRISTOPHER MASON HOWARD (pictured), of St. Petersburg.

On the early afternoon of March 14, 2026, deputies responded to a residence on 5235 78th Street North in reference to a verbal domestic disturbance.

On arrival, deputies found a deceased dog outside the residence. The sheriff’s office identified the furvictim as a 7-year-old Chihuahua mix named Sheba.

Deputies learned that Sheba had entered HOWARD’s bedroom where she was not allowed, so HOWARD kicked her across the room. According to the sheriff’s office, after HOWARD kicked Sheba, he picked her up by her neck and threw her toward the front doorway. HOWARD then struck Sheba with a chair across the neck/back. As if that was not monstrous and violent enough, HOWARD picked up Sheba by her neck again and dropped her on the ground outside.

Deputies arrested the savage and transported him to the Pinellas County Jail. He was booked on one felony count of cruelty to animals and released the following day after posting a $5,000 bond.
