The Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrested 56-year-old CHRISTOPHER DEAN BRAYBOY (pictured).
According to an arrest report obtained by Voice For Us, on the early afternoon of Monday, August 17, 2026, deputies responded to a home in the 600 block of Northwest 19th Street in Pompano Beach after receiving a tip about dogs left abandoned and locked in a wooden cage without food and water.
When deputies arrived at the home, they saw BRAYBOY looking through the mailbox before leaving the home.
Deputies then detained BRAYBOY. He told deputies that he was evicted from the home on August 7, 2026, but would come by every other day to care for the dogs. BRAYBOY later told deputies that he went to the home every day to feed the dogs.
Deputies made contact with the homeowner, who confirmed that BRAYBOY had been evicted. The homeowner told deputies that he had given BRAYBOY permission to enter the backyard to feed the dogs and added that he had instructed BRAYBOY to remove the dogs, but BRAYBOY did not do so.
According to the report, BRAYBOY self-diagnosed the dogs with worms and did not take them to a veterinarian. Instead, he gave them two deworming products that were not prescribed by a veterinarian—one that had expired in 2023 and another intended for horses.
BRAYBOY further told deputies that the dogs were skinny because they all had worms and defecated frequently. He stated that he had not been at the home for the previous three days and admitted that it was wrong not to feed the dogs, walk them, or clean their cages of feces and urine. According to the report, BRAYBOY said his failure to care for the dogs during those three days was due to a lack of money. He said he was about to go to the store to buy dog food when he was detained.
Deputies reported that the dogs appeared underweight, with their ribs showing, which contradicted BRAYBOY’s claim that he stopped by every day to feed them. Deputies also noted that the dogs appeared lethargic and that the kennels had a strong odor of urine and feces.
BRAYBOY was arrested and booked into the Broward County Jail on six felony counts of animal cruelty.
The following day, BRAYBOY appeared in Broward County Circuit Court and bond was set at $21,000. A judge ordered him to stay away from animals.
All of the furvictims are recovering in the care of Broward County Animal Control.
