CARRICK DEWAYNE GREEN sentenced to 10 years in prison for savagely abusing puppy

Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen announced that 44-year-old CARRICK DEWAYNE GREEN (pictured) has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to animal cruelty.
The case involves a five-month-old puppy named Jinx.
According to a press release issued by the Office of Constable Alan Rosen, Harris County Constable Precinct 1, deputies arrested GREEN in 2025 following an investigation conducted by the Constable Precinct One Animal Cruelty Unit in partnership with the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
According to the investigation, GREEN had hung Jinx by the neck until the puppy passed out. The press release described Jinx as “emaciated” and “severely wounded” when GREEN hung him. It stated that GREEN suspended Jinx in the air by a leash and collar around his neck.
Court records say that Jinx went from crying, yelping and struggling to limp in approximately 45 seconds. Jinx also had internal injuries and a shattered femur as a result of the abuse. “The damage was so severe that the leg later had to be partially amputated,” the press release stated.
Thankfully, Jinx recovered and was later adopted.
Constable Alan Rosen said that when deputies arrested GREEN on a warrant for animal cruelty on July 28, 2025, he had a backpack containing a handgun.
GREEN was sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for felony animal cruelty and 10 years for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
Constable Rosen said: “Pets should be treated with kindness, not brutality. This was just vicious.”
GREEN also has nine prior felony convictions for charges including attempted possession of a firearm by a felon and assaulting a public servant for attacking a detention officer at the Harris County jail.
