The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26-years-old SCOTT CARSON NEWMARK a.k.a. SCOTT CARSON VONHARTEN (pictured).

According to the arrest report obtained by Voice For Us, after a property in Seminole was sold in an auction and the new owner moved in, skeletal remains of multiple animals were found in the property.

The new owner first discovered skeletal remains of a dog in one of the bedrooms, so Pinellas County Animal Services were called in. Responding officers then found a mummified dog and skeletal remains of a cat.

As stated in the report, all three animals were found in rooms with feces piled up and there was no sign of food or water for the Voiceless Victims.

In the feces officers found fabric that matched the one in the room “showing the animals were eating it as there was no actual food in the room”, stated the report.

Additionally, the sheriff’s office reports that “There was also evidence one dog chewed through the door in an attempt to escape.”

The deceased cat was microchipped and information revealed that NEWMARK had adopted him/her from Second Chance For Strays on January 6, 2019.

One of the two dogs was microchipped and investigators were able to determine that NEWMARK was his/her guardian. The other dog was reported as stolen back in 2021.

The reports stated that NEWMARK “did intentionally commit an act to an animal which resulted in cruel death, or did excessively or repeatedly inflict unnecessary pain or suffering, or cause the same to be done, or did knowingly and intentionally torture or torment an animal in a manner causing the animal to be injured, mutilated or killed.”

NEWMARK was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on the late evening of November 3, 2023, on three felony counts of animal cruelty. He was released the early morning of the following day.
